Concord Ultimax Car Seat

Has anyone got one of these?

I think I am going to have to get DS2 a new seat as I think that he will be out of his current one, the Jane Matrix lie flat (up to 9kg), before DS1 is out of his Maxi Cosi Priori. I know I can sit the matrix up, but as I am small and with a bad back, I found it almost impossible to get DS1 into it sitting up because the seatbelt got in the way.

So I was thinking of the Jane Racing but I understand that you can only have it rear facing up to 9kg. The Ultimax you can use rear facing to 13kg.

Does anyone know how the seat fixes into the car - does the seatbelt get in the way as it does with the Matrix? Is it comfortable for the DCs to sit in and how easy are the straps to manipulate?

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Apparently, here's a link to the Ultimax site.

My favourite nursery shop in Abingdon recommend it

i have the concord ultimax and my 5 month baby seems to love it. he was 5 weeks premature and very small but was able to travel comfortably in it. it is heavy and we did find it difficult to install but once in the car seems sturdy and safe. i do find it a tad difficult getting him in and out of the car as the seat belt does get in the way as i am only 5ft! but i would highly recommend.

we had a concord car seat for ds1 and it was very good

i am also looking to purchase two more car seats for the grans who will be sharing the childcare. can anyone recommend? budget is an issue as we have the ultimax in the main family car.

Thanks moffster, that's really helpful. I'm also only 5' (and have a dodgy back and leg as well!) so interesting you say it's quite difficult to get your DS in and out as the seatbelt can get in the way.

Does it support your DS's head properly. I put my DS2 in our Matrix sitting up yesterday and wasn't happy with it as it doesn't appear to give any support to his head and he just looked slumped and uncomfortable in it.

I think the only thing for it is to go and see if it fits in my car and see how DS2 looks in it.

i also have a bad back!! i dont think there is any other way around the seat belt issue but i have mastered getting him in and out now and its fine. his little head is just fine and never seems to loll about when he is asleep, which he does a lot in this car seat. best to try these things out as everyone has their own thoughts.

I am also thinking of getting concord ultimax for my grandchild when I childmind. a survey I looked at rated it high for comfort ease of use safety and value for money etc, but low on fitting into car. (bit complicated but doable). As I dont intend to take the seat out this should be ok for me. Good price at kiddie-kingdom.com (£99) in denim colour.
PS best was maxi cosi toes

hi i have this seat rearfacing for my dd 14m she loves being in it. i have a picasso and find it not to bad getting her in and out as the car seat is the same hight as me the strap does get in the way a bit though.take about 5 min to take in/out but very secure once in

Dropdeadfred · 08/01/2009 18:25

I have this car seat for dd3 (aged 3.7). She went in it rearfacing til she was about 2.3 months then we turned it round. She has always been comfortable in it.
