I need a phone, and I don't want a smart phone, or anything with apps. But still need the person on the other end to hear me well. I have tried two so far one was a £60 flip phone and the other was over £100. I don't remember the brands. I don't want to spend money like that on a phone again. And no one could hear me on either phone! It was the phones that were the problem not the phone lines, I must have bad luck. I might go for the £10 phone from argos as I want it to be cheap. I don't know if I might as well flush the money down the toilet though.

I don't think you are going to get a half decent phone for that kind of money.
I have a almost 8 ( I think ) Yr old Samsung a12 which does a fine job for me and is on the lower end of a smart phone.

I have a sim only contract for £6 pm.
Have you had a look at places cash converters ?

Doro make decent basic phones. They are generally aimed at the older market.

I would find modern life a struggle without a smartphone these days TBH - train tickets, tickets for the cinema, entry tickets for anything these days, taxis, food, shopping etc, etc.
