Vinted size listing dilemma

YoungMacDonald · 15/04/2026 15:31

I purchased a jacket on Vinted.
Next brand - label is size 18.

The seller correctly listed it as a size 18 (size 16 - 18 under Vinted’s latest sizing re-shuffle) and they mentioned in the comments it comes up small.

I took a punt because I’m a size 16 but when it arrived, it’s much smaller. I’d say a size 14 tops.

I’m going to re-list in an attempt to re-sell it but I feel like I should list it as a size 14 which is a better reflection of the true size.

The problem is, the label clearly shows it as a size 18.

What would you do?

It’s a nice jacket and would really suit someone who has the corresponding body shape / size. I suppose I’m just worried about a future buyer being disappointed and having a moan or demanding a return or the item for free etc..

include all that comment in your post and show pictures with measurement tape next to the coat.

pit to pit, sleeve length and body length are all important.

I would list it as whatever it says on the label, but in your description explain what size you feel it is, and put measurements in as well. I found that really helpful when I’m looking for things on vinted, and if I sell things, I have now started giving measurements

Agree with PPs - just give all the info and be honest. Nothing more annoying than buying an item which is nowhere near the size stated on the label. Probably why the person is selling it, as they've bought it only to find the sizing is way off. It's happened to me several times.

Thank you @FabulousFreshias@RomeoOscarXrayXray@SharpWriter

It’s really helpful to get other opinions.
I’ll list it as per the label size along with tape measure photos and a description about the sizing.

I’m feeling doubtful that a size 14 woman would be including size 16 & 18 in a search criteria so the jacket may never find an owner but it’s worth a try.

I mention label size, measurements and my own size and where it fits it not.

Puppylucky · 20/04/2026 07:51

As per your latest post OP I would list as a medium regardless of the size on the label and explain why. It's really annoying when items are listed as 16-18 when they are something like a Zara large which is often size 14 at best .

Runnersandtoms · 20/04/2026 07:54

I'd list it under 12-14 so size 14 people find it, but state the label says 18 and put in measurements to explain why you believe it would fit size 14.

Silverbirchleaf · 20/04/2026 07:56

I’d list it as 14 and explain in the blurb about the label. If you list it as an 18, the size-14-ners will never find it.

pinkpony88 · 20/04/2026 07:57

I’ve had this before. I list it as the size I think it fits as. Then in the description I write that the label says otherwise but “fits like an X size”. This means that you will get people of that size searching for it. Otherwise you will get people who are 16-18 clicking on it, reading your blurb then discounting it. You could list pit to pit measurements as well which help.

I’m a 14 and I include large in my searches as although I’m a 14 , medium (12-14) doesn’t fit so I buy either 14 or large but it is massively helpful if I t states in the ad if it’s a small 16 - 18 or not .

Just to say I hate Vinteds new sizing system.

ButterYellowHair · 20/04/2026 07:59

List as 14 and just write it all in the explanation. Dont show the label photo. I recently had to do similar with an item that’s a size 11 on the label (bought abroad).

Mumof1andacat · 20/04/2026 08:00

List it in the size 12-14 category and explain in the comments

YoungMacDonald · 20/04/2026 09:01

That’s a really interesting take from all of your latest posts. Thank you @dudsville@Puppylucky@Runnersandtoms@Silverbirchleaf@pinkpony88@asdbaybeeee@Mumof1andacat@ButterYellowHair

I did wonder about it not reaching the right ‘demographic’ if I listed it in the L (16-18) range.

I think I’ll list it in the 12-14 size bracket and one of the first things I add in the description will be the label size.
