Recommendations for a supportive sports bra for larger busts while running

Anyone got a sports bra that can actually handle big boobs running a half marathon without turning my under-boob and pits into a war crime? I’m begging. I’ll pay in tears and Vaseline. 😂

M&S Goodmove - the front zip extra support one.
Absolutely does the job, and v reasonable price.

Or have a look at Boobydoo - good advice on their website.

@Needapadlockonmyfridge I have the front zipper M&S Goodmove one, it's very comfortable & the yes the front zip is genius. I like it for walking, but for running, they still wobble around too much

@EverythingIsComputer Thank you, that looks like a serious boulder holder.
Typically I see they have everything apart from my size in that one!

Enell sports bras.

PamelaShipman80 · 22/03/2026 22:08

Shock absorber!!

CelticPromise · 22/03/2026 22:13

Agree with Enell if you don't mind everything squashed flat. I also like Panache underwired but I do need Vaseline or similar for a long run.

PricklyOstrich · 22/03/2026 22:22

I love the panache one. I switched to that from Enell when it came out and it is now the only one I buy.

I like the Freya underwired over a shock absorber - the two together seem to work better

Not sure what mine is, but I got it at Bravissimo. You want sports bras that come in cup sizes and non-stretchy cup fabric instead of ones that rely on stretchiness.

Be prepared for Bravissimo fitters to try to put you in a back size so small that it hurts after a couple of hours. I argue with them every time I go in because I want a size up.

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 24/03/2026 12:30

I found it on the airer. Freya Active.

MissKittyFantastico84 · 24/03/2026 12:55

Another vote for Freya Active - I have an Elomi one, but I find it better for lower impact movement.

Have you tried a boobuddy?

As a J cup who’s run 5 marathons and had her fair share of the war zone underboob I feel fairly qualified to comment!

  1. Panache Underwired for easy midweek run or gym work. Comfortable and a staple but the back doesn’t run quite tight enough in it’s smallest size for speedwork or harder runs for me.
  2. CurvyKate EveryMove is the best I’ve found so far for actually not moving at all and giving absolutely no chaffing. Loses marks because the hook on the back is so high I can’t put it on without DH help so limits when I can wear it!
  3. Elomi Energise. Love this for fit and support, maybe a long run rather than a speed session but no chafe and I could get it on without help. Absolutely not machine friendly however, I snapped wires on the first wash so handwash only.
  4. Freya High Octane. For a long time this was the ultimate for me. Saved for my long run every week AND can do speed work in it. It’s incredibly solid so the absolute best for no bounce and high support. It does start to chafe around the 2 hour mark for me which I get around by wearing sports tape underboob.

I would avoid the Panache Endurance. These are the best looking sports bras for me and do feel supportive however the metal they use just isn’t good enough! The hook and eyes get bent out of shape and I’ve had the wire in the cup snap on me MID RUN at least 3 times (ouch!). I really wanted to love but the quality is poor.

It depends with my cycle and what stage of training I’m at which I prefer. The other trick I use is to tape your underboob with sports tape, right round where your bra band will go. I get a slight allergic reaction so need to take it off immediately post race but for me that’s preferable to the raw chafing when I need to wear a normal bra and a sports bra for more training immediately after!

Freya Active Dynamic sports bra
I used to wear Shock Absorber, but now prefer these.

Silverblue1985 · 25/03/2026 08:13

Definitely shock absorber for me.

GloiredeDijon · 25/03/2026 08:24

H cup - my experience wasn’t for running but plenty of sitting trot (horse riding) which is very hard on big boobs and I found the best solution was two relatively cheap sports bras worn on top of each other.

This worked far better than any single expensive sports bra I tried.

Ophir · 25/03/2026 08:35

Normal underwired for industrial structure under sports bra or pull on sports crop top is the only thing that works

grizzlyoldbear · 25/03/2026 09:57

@Ophir I think this is probably true. The gravity is just too much for one poor bra.
@user1471548941 OMG this sounds like a gamechanger - underboob chafing tape thank you! I’m definitely giving that a go.
I think I’m going to invest in some proper adhesive patches for the girls too… lesson painfully learned!
