How to customise a locket?

I want to get my DD a locket for her 18th but I'm not sure how to customise it in a way that she'll want to wear it forever! I'm looking at various options with photos and engravings. What would you do? Would she want a locket with a photo of her and me in it? I guess she could always swap out the photo... Do I engrave with her birth date or the date of her 18th or something else?

I'm really bad at this kind of stuff so hoping those to whom it comes easier may help!

I can’t speak for what your daughter would like but im not a fan of visible engraving. I’d prefer it on the back so it’s there but not visible

You could engrave her initials in a monogram. You could ask a jeweller to set her birthstone in it.
You could leave the locket plain, and put a tiny charm of her initial by the clasp.
You could get it engraved with her favourite flowers/tree/animal. Maybe the latitude, longitude of her birthplace? I engraved a ‘what three words’ recently, which was cute.
