The most deluded Vinted sellers

I’ve just had an item pop up in my suggested items - a plain white vest top from Zara, new without tags. She wants £20!! Would you even pay that new from Zara?!

What are your favourite nutty Vinted seller moments?

Why take the piss?

I don't need a history. Worn once/a handful of times is more than enough. I don't care it's got tags on because you didn't return it on time. Or your husband didn't like it. Or it was for your best friend's wedding who called it off at the last minute. I just want multiple photos and what I consider a reasonable price. Oh, and to know if it's spatkly or not cos sparkle doesnt photograph well.

‘Take the piss’ where am I doing that? Multitudes of posters report jab successes…therefor they’ll have clothes that no longer fit that’s where vinted comes in handy.

I have recently sold over 300 items and had a huge clear out. 2 things pissed me off. Firstly one person bought 3 things over 3 days, had delivered to an In Post locker then never bothered to collect so they just went all the way to her locker, waited a week then all the way back and I had to collect. She did this to hundreds of people over a few days and was banned but it was such a dick move. Then the people who have buyers regret and instead of being honest or reselling make a nasty untrue report - both times this happened to me the CF said "odour" which was untrue. I made them pay to return and instantly resold which made me less annoyed but why not just be honest? FFS people!

But overwhelmingly it has been very positive and it is nice to know my old stuff which has been so loved is now being worn and loved by others!

I’ve got a lovely M+S tshirt/ blouse on at £2.50 atm, and someone offered me £1.80 for it. A saving of pence. I didn’t respond to her offer.

To be fair, about 75% of my Vinted purchases turn up stinking of some disgusting air freshener. It seems to be a thing Vinted sellers do, and I really wish they would knock it off. It smells like toilet cleaner.

PeeledOranges · 31/05/2026 10:10

There are some sellers that would amaze me if they sold anything! Those with a crappy one badly shot photo and no blurb. Usually proved to high as well.
Why would anyone take a punt on this? More of a triumph of hope over experience!

beautyqueeen · 31/05/2026 10:13

The non collectors drive me insane, I’ve it had it happen a couple of times and the parcels have gone missing on the way back to me and then I had to wait 40 days for Vinted to refund. I would never sell something high value on there for that reason.

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · 31/05/2026 10:13

@sprigatito I have never seen that, and all my items are freshly laundered and steamed! They are just dicks who regret buying.

letshavetea · 31/05/2026 10:17

There’s a dress I’d like to buy on vinted. The seller put it on for £75. A day later she increased it to £85. Usually these dresses (new with tags) go for £50 -£60. I offered £55. Rejected. Left it a month and re messaged her to ask if she would now consider an offer? I can see she’s seen the offer - no reply! Why do people like this even bother to list items?!?

Generally though I’ve done very well both buying and selling on vinted and think it’s worth it.

My partner bought a jacket that was BNWT and when it arrived it stank of weed. We hung it outside for a couple of days and the smell persisted. We drowned it in febreeze and you guessed it, the smell persisted. I washed it and yup, still smelt of weed. Washed it one final time and it seems okay but it will forever be known as the Jazz Cabbage Coat.

Yes!! I have even had some new items that were all good except for a weird smell…

Newmeagain · 31/05/2026 10:55

As soon as I see “Needs sold”, “no time wasters”, “I just want my money back” etc I scroll past and laugh to myself.

There are also people who make stuff up - not just about the condition of an item (the famous “only worn once or twice”) but also other details - e.g. I was looking at an item and trying to clarify the size - the seller was adamant that it was a “size small” - however I have seen this item in a store and the sizing is 8, 10, etc. Needless to say I did not buy the item…

Gateappreciation · 31/05/2026 16:19

Another irk is when you have a search for a red blouse for example, and want size 14, and yet lots of 8s appear.

I hate this.
Actually made a thread about it recently because I was looking for a hoodie on there and even though I clicked the correct size box I still got five different sizes pop up. So annoying but was glad to hear it wasn't just me or was happening to.

Actually that reminds me of my current Vinted bugbear, sellers who don't post a photo of the size label.

Not to mention different brands from the one you were looking for.

Yes. Defies the point of even having any options if I tick the Zara box but end up with Shien 🙄.

Yeah this is why I only buy items that can go in the washing machine. All goes straight in the washer as soon as it arrives.

But how is that any different to it doesn’t suit me or I don’t actually like it?

And someone else losing weight doesn’t make you fat

Edited

Yeah I don't get that. If it said 'due to weight gain' would that be better or worse? I couldn't give a stuff what size the seller is. Only that the garment will fit me personally.
