Best bed guard rail?

Going to buy DS a pine single bed from Mothercare. Have looked at the reviews for the fixed and foldable pine guards that they sell but they don't seem to be that great.

Can anyone recommend a good bed guard for me? DS is a thrasher so don't want anything that he can kick off easily iyswim? They seem to be anchored in place by the matresses which I think is a bit daft!

I can't offer any advice, I'm afraid, but I shall be interested to see what people suggest as we shall shortly be buying DS his first bed too

I've only ever seen the Tomy bed guard, which is £20.

I've been looking into it more and the one you buy depends on whether you have a divan or a bed with a slatted base. I found a baby Dan fold down one that anchors onto the other side of the bed which looks a lot more secure so may go for that because when DS outgrows the need for a rail, it would look mad having a fixed one and would probably annoy him so....

Am interested to see what other mnetters think!

I think we'll get a slatted base.

bumping as i would like advice too. we need one for going on holiday - not sure what the bed will be like tho

We've got the Babydan one on our double bed (with slatted base), it's great.

We also have Babydan and it's great. Has lasted really well through 2 kids.

yep we use a BabyDan too and it does the trick. My DS thrashes about too and you are right that the way they attach under the mattress is a bit daft but think they are all like that...
