Children's books on the cheap?

I have a baby on the way and am absolutely looking forward to stocking up on books for later on. But they cost! Any good tips on where to get GOOD books on the cheap? Obviously lots you can pick up all over the place, but they are not nearly as lovely as the nice ones with lovely illustrations and enlightening subtexts that I have been lusting over in Borders...

Have you tried

Red House Books or
The Book People

you could always post here about the ones you are after and see if someone has them that they dont need/want anyone. They maybe willing to sell them on !

Worth a try

Book People are GREAT!! Just look every catalogue for what they have on offer each time! I am addicted to them.

If you're anywhere near Cambridge, Galloway & Porter do a remaindered booksale every month at their warehouse. Can be a bit hit and miss, but you can usually pick up decent picture books (incl. Baby Einstein and Amazing Baby) for £1 each
