Recommendations for school cartridge pen?

DS will need one of these for next school year.

He will probably lose it.
He will probably make a mess changing cartridges.

What should I buy? How much do they cost?

Also, what is an 'Ink Correction Pen' ?

(We just had Tippex in my day.... used to 'do our nails' in boring lessons! )

I love disposable fountain pens, no mess!

I used them at school and still do now, no worries about them getting stolen or lost, and no worries about white shirts coming home covered in ink.

Parker pens are the best and I had alot of pens at school. The ink correction pens have 2 ends. The white end you rub away your mistakes and you correct them with the other end. Best thing to do is make sure it is dry before you use the other end otherwise it'll run. The WHSmith ones always were the best (if memory serves).

Parker are definitely the best if you're not left handed! If you are - ask school if he can at all NOT use a fountain pen - my writing has never been messier than when I was forced to use a fountain pen!

Can you get left-handed fountain pens?

Parker pens are good, with washable ink cartridges.

I was seriously clumsy and messy as a child, and managed to drop my fountain pen on the floor so many times, bending the nib. You can buy (or at least you used to be able to buy) replacement Parker nibs, which works out cheaper than buying the whole caboodle again.

Re the mess, I think not a day went past that I didn't come home with ink stained fingers, shirt, nose etc. But ink washes out!

Stabilo do an ink handwriting pen(£5 ish) which has cartridges and comes left and right handed otherwise ds has a Parker(£7) with a rubberised grip. He doesn't seem to make a mess changing the ink.
