I know you can’t get the real thing for £3K but I don’t mind pre loved. Please could you help me find a genuine pre loved Chanel classic for £3K or less? I have always loved the look of this bag hence wanring to get this as opposed to others.

I’m after this too

People often confuse a Chanel Classic with a 2.55 (not helped by the fact that Chanel themselves sometimes change the names of their products, and they also come to have known/informal names within the community.) Are you looking for a Chanel with an interlocked CC clasp?

Tbh you'd really struggle to find either at at that price point, even pre-owned. You might get closer with something like a vintage single flap - that would look similar to a Classic externally but not have the internal double flap. I'm selling one atm (I promise I'm not looking for a sale - don't think that's allowed round here and I'm selling privately anyway) but mine is valued at around £3.5k, 1997, extremely good condition.

Happy to help with identifying what you are looking for 🙂

Basically I am looking for a normal hadbag which can be used as a cross body. I have always liked the look of Chanel. I used to have a wallet on chain but it was way too small

Thanks! Exactly what I was after. As it’s online, how can I be sure of it’s authenticity?

Ah ok - that's not a Classic, it's a vintage single flap exactly as I referred to earlier. The Classic is Lagerfeld's version of the original 2.55 with the double flap and the interlocked CC clasp (as opposed to magnetic or other form of closure which has the CC logo but which isn't an integral part of the locking mechanism.) If you want the classic look without paying inordinate amounts of money for the double flap/clasp etc the bag linked above is a good one to go for.

The modern Classic is actually very difficult to wear cross body - the strap isn't long enough and it can sit too high (depending on your height/body shape of course.) The one I have is similar. If you're anywhere near somewhere that sells them the best thing would be to visit and try them, see how they fit. Re-Selfridges or Flannels would be a good start.
