Do Dunnes Stores deliver to the uk? They have beautiful affordable dresses. I bought dd’s there years ago. They have a gorgeous range every spring.

Monsoon, Next and John Lewis all had beautiful offerings when my girls were at that stage. Take tons of photos.

Another one for Vinted here. My DD had a good around and found some lovely dresses for GD last year. She ordered a couple and Bingo! one was perfect and the other she sold on. She did buy a brand new veil as most of the Vinted ones had little pulls etc but the whole thing was much more reasonable than buying in wedding or department store.

Apologies for barging in on the thread but I have a question for those of you who know about communion dresses (We are not Catholic). My DD was a flower girl at a distant relative's wedding in Portugal a couple of years ago and the family had a beautiful white dress in thick cotton made for the occasion. She'll never wear it again and I have been wondering to put it on Vinted as a first communion dress, but I don't know if cotton is ever the done thing for these. It seems a shame for it to gather dust in her wardrobe!

TiredTrainLady · 21/01/2026 09:30

Cotton would be fine @FraterculaArctica
Its not common because its just not really in fashion, mostly Tulle, duchess satin etc but there is no rule about the material, only that it should be white. Some people do also choose ivory and cream.
You could certainly put it on as describe it as such "communion/occassion dress"

ManMumD · 21/01/2026 09:48

Thanks all for the sugguestions and responses!
, I have been looking on Vinted and trying to see which would suit DD.@TiredTrainLady: wow that is a steal for £10.
Thanks again will look into all these.

Cotton would be beautiful as a First Communion Dress

Hi
I bought a dress from www.rococlothing.co.uk/
it was lovely , good quality but not flattering on my daughter so I returned it- no issues with a refund.
i also tried Next and John Lewis, again quality was good and a nice range of styles.
My eldest daughter’s communion was during Covid so we had only online as an option - but the dresses were so nice I bought online for my youngest daughter a couple of years later.
Here communion dresses are sold within bridal boutiques with an appointment system that I found off putting.
I have also found quite a variety of dresses worn on the day from the more elaborate to more simple so very much go for what suits you and your daughter the best.

My friend got a lovely one on Ebay for bugger all.

ChevernyRose · 21/01/2026 10:21

Etsy or Next have got nice ones

FraterculaArctica · 21/01/2026 11:24

Thank you all! I'll try listing it then (unless anyone here is interested in a white cotton southern European style occasion dress 🙂). Hope you all find something beautiful for your DDs and that they have very special First Communion days.

I got my dds from vinted, I think it was £15 including postage. Perfect condition. It was just a JJ Rocha one but fit the classical style dd and I wanted

ManMumD · 21/01/2026 12:15

Thanks so much everyone for your sugguestions, really make me feel a bit more relaxed about going about finding her a dress.
I was really stressing about the price and booking the appointments at some of the stores. And many are already fully booked!

Thanks ill keep searching online and check any local stores within my budget. Xx

A couple of hundred dresses on ebay at under £75 and a lot at under £20.

Soonenough · 21/01/2026 12:54

I second Dunnes . They do have a UK site and the new collections are out now . Plus all the accessories including shoes so you could get all at one place .

ManMumD · 21/01/2026 13:58

Ill check the UK store for Dunnes as well xx

Bought my daughters communion dress from TK Maxx, it was many years ago, but was a lovely dress from their sort of party wear, slightly off white and plain, but it did the job.
