I have been trying various brands of tea in the supermarket but haven't found a really decent fairly strong tea!

Can you recommend any please?

Aldi red label is very good

cocopopps75 · 17/01/2026 18:05

Glengetti is my go to for a strong cuppa

watchuswreckthemic · 17/01/2026 18:05

It’s got to be Yorkshire Tea

Nicecatneighbour · 17/01/2026 18:05

I like Co op 99 in the red box.

Lidl gold label is nice and strong. Is normally drink Yorkshire tea but this is as good.

I drink Assam, strong and a bit malty. I don’t like the Waitrose one as much as Tesco, and Twinings isn’t worth the extra £ over Tesco.

yorkshire tea or twinnings extra strong breakfast tea

WingingItMam48 · 17/01/2026 18:52

I don't find any of the supermarkets offerings very strong so I got a tea diffuser and buy ringtons Northumbrian Gold tea online. It's loose leaf tea that you leave to brew inside the diffuser in a mug. Lovely. They do tea bags as well if you don't want to bother with a diffuser.

Gold label Aldi or Lidl are a great cuppa.
or ringtons or Bothams.

Brew Tea Co. English Breakfast tea is pretty satisfying.

Or Teapigs Strong Earl Grey.

Available from Ocado, and presumably other supermarkets, too.

TheCurious0range · 17/01/2026 21:12

Yorkshire gold, Yorkshire is also the only passable decaf

Rictasmorticia · 17/01/2026 21:22

Cyclingmummy1 · 23/01/2026 21:59

MrsTrellisOgleddCymru · 23/01/2026 23:07

Murroughs Paned Welsh Brew tea. Makes an absolutely fantastic cuppa!

Sweetiedarling7 · 23/01/2026 23:25

Dorset Sunshine Blend or Yorkshire Gold. Both lovely!

JustGiveMeReason · 23/01/2026 23:48

Yorkshire Tea is head and shoulders above the rest, and seems to work with different sorts of water in different parts of the country as well.

Fancypanda23 · 23/01/2026 23:56

Sainsburys red label, think it came top in a taste trial beating Yorkshire tea! It's very strong and dark so you'd have to like a strong cuppa

LiveLuvLaugh · 24/01/2026 00:25

Tesco Red Label for work. But my absolute fave is Rare Tea Company Lost Malawi or Speedy Breakfast from Amazon or RTC. I make it in a strainer pot that sits in the mug. I think I like it more than wine.

Nottogetapenny · 24/01/2026 00:33

Marks & Spencer extra strong tea, in tea bags or loose. Makes a really good cup of tea.
