Which carseat?

Hi,

does anyone have the 2008 Which report into carseats?

Our old banger doesn't have the thingies to fit any version of the Isofix so I need to know the safest non-Isofix seat, from 9m please.

ds (14m) going nuts still crammed into his babyseat...

I don't have the report but most people I know seem to rate the MaxiCosi one (XP I think it's called) so I guess it must have had a good report at some stage!

Not sure whether they've been updated, but we bought the Maxi cosi cabriofix for the first stage and now have a Maxi cosi priori fix, but it does need the isofix mounts, will see if I can find one that's had a good review on the Which site without isofix.

can't seem to log onto the Which website . sorry! But I would definitely recommend Maxi cosi as a brand! I so remember that they came out very favourably in the crash tests etc, better than Britax. HTH

there's a thread on here about rear facing car seats for toddlers that would make an interesting read. some carseats recommended on that as well

I know morocco, saw some of those but can't see putting him in them myself - we are both tired of not being able to see each other!

I used to have Which? and it was maxicosi priorifix that came out very well. This doesn't have to be iso fix IIRC as I have one and it has spaces for seat belts. My DP has the maxi cosi Tobi which is also good.

We have maxi cosi and it was called XP now they are called something different. They were rated top after the isofix models (we used to subscribe to which) and we have the next stage car seat up for my eldest son, the rodi.

The belt tightener is fantastic. It really locks the seat in place. The seat is about £120 but well worth the money. I know mothercare do something similar for about half the price BUT in the Which review it didn't perform anywhere near as well as the maxi cosi.

There was the full review of the which seats done on another message board -I am sure it was on parenting. I have done a quick search for you but can't seem to find it.

maxi cosi priory xp. has a really secure way of fitting and tightenin g the seatbelt so that the seat doesnt move a millimetre once in.
and you can buy a 'summer cover' for it too which means you can keep the cover on, and take that off and wash in the machine instead of legging the seat get covered in ground in raisins and crisps and other wholesome stuff.

I did see MrsBadger's recent list of best buys, but they were all -fix carseats and I really need one that isn't. sounds like Maxicosi Priori is it.

oh and if you find one of the summer covers anywhere snap it up. for some unfathomable reason they seem to make about 5 a year, which is madness.

Sorry to put a spanner in the works, but when I looked on Which? about 6 months ago for exactly that, it was the Mamas and Papas Pro-Tec, closely followed by the Maxi Cosi Priori.

I have the Pro Tec and I'm very happy with it.

It was cheaper from Kiddicare than Mamas and Papas, but I can't remmeber how much exactly - £100 ish.
