can someone explain vinted to me?

I shop for my kids on vinted. I tend to work in European sizing (which goes by height rather than age) so for my 129cm son I'll look for clothes up to 134cm (equivalent 8-9). However, when you look at the pictures or ask to see the labels 90% of the postings in this category are actually age 9-10 (i.e up to 140cm), so in the wrong sizing category. Have included examples here where you can see the cm on the label doesn't match the cm on the listing to show what I mean.

Naturally I'll then look at the size down to try and get the correct size that I need, but...but then (frustratingly!) 90% of the listings are listed correctly as age 7-8, which is too small. It's super time consuming to have to check every listing as I have zero trust that I'll buy the right size (though still a better option than the cost of buying new.

It seems to be happening too often (also with smaller sizes for my other children) to be coincidence, so is it something to do with vinted?? I've never sold on there so am uneducated in how it works. Does it have different bands when you're posting as a seller to what we see as buyers? Does it do something automatically?? Or am I just incredibly unlucky? I know they recently changed the s, m, l bandings on adult clothes, but this kids banding has been happening for at least a year!

The sizing on Vinted is annoying. They recently changed it too. When you’re a seller, you just have the same annoying catch all categories and they often don’t match the clothes. Once I was selling an oversized XXL that was size 24 easily, but for some reason it fell under Vinted’s size 14/16 category

@bonquiqui thanks for answering! when you say 'fell into', how? Do you not get to select the category which best matches the garment?

I will try and upload photos of the sizing options you’re given when selling. I have 2 screen shots, one for women’s clothing and one for girls.

For lots of European sizing it’s ‘ up to’.

so they have listed as 134cm ( age 9) as it’s from then and ‘up to’ 140cm ( age 10)

Ie petite bateau is a French company. Age 6 is ‘ up to age 6’ ie they are probably outgrowing it by 5 1/2-6 years. My 5 1/2 year old is outgrowing age 6 (116cm) so I buy him age 8 (128cm). But it’s up to 128cm, I wouldn’t expect it to fit him when he’s actually 128cm

The sizes you can choose are restricted by Vinted. I have a hoody on. its medium boys. the size on the label is 137-147cm
However neither if these things were a size option when I listed it. I've gone for age 10 which is 140cm (because that was the nearest). With a clear photo of the actual size label so people can make their own decision!

I choose the kids sizes as “up to” which is generally what it is in shops when they just put “Age 6”. So if I’m uploading something that is 7-8, I’ll list it as 8. The women’s sizing is a pain because you see two sizes with one option and Small doesn’t always equate to 8/10. Just can’t stand the vagueness and I love Vinted!

I am finding Vinted so frustrating for this!

Looking for clothes for myself as a 10/12 means I need to select S and M and wade through all the gorgeous size 8 and size 14 options which won’t fit me!

I also wish the men’s clothing had an option for trouser length and arm length for my lanky family!
