Next step for big boy after his cot/playpen...

Hello,

my 14 month old son is currently sleeping in his playpen (I've had a nice thick foam mattress cut for it) as he got too big for his regular cot and couldn't roll over. A cotbed seemed a poor solution as only 10cm wider so I've put him in his nice big playpen, which is as wide as a single bed. But, it's only a metre long and he's a big lad so this won't do for long.

As a next move I'm considering getting single beds that turn into bunks, and using the top bunk with the rail round it as a normal single.

Anyone done something similar or have a different idea? He rolls around quite a lot in the night.

cheers

What about a toddler bed that is low to the ground? They are pretty cheap and will last him for a good while. DD has a bed guard that is the same length as her toddler bed so she is safe and it pretty much feel like a cot.

DS is in a regular single bed with a bed guard on the side, pushed up against wall on the other.
He loves his 'big boy's bed' and says "this is comfiest on the world' every time he goes to bed
