Yet another P&T question: what do you do when the younger one has outgrown the bottom bit?

Ds2, 4 months, has now outgrown the bottom bit of the P&T, but can't sit up unsupported yet, so obviously has to stay in it. His feet poke through at the end now. He is not particularly long, IMO.

Is there something one does with the bottom bit, or is it just one of those things? Have lost instruction manual...
