SO much fake crap on Vinted

Tabitha005 · 11/12/2025 17:04

I'm noticing more and more of these accounts popping up on Vinted - 'designer' jewellery - usually Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton and less commonly Bvlgari - all very, VERY clearly fake by sellers with zero reviews or sales.

I've been reporting them to Vinted and almost every single account has been removed, which is great.

Also, perfume - tons and tons of listings for Tom Ford perfume for around £45 for 100ml which is clearly NEVER going to be anything other than fake. I'm reporting those, too.

Just be really careful. SO many scammers setting up Vinted accounts - clearly well organised, too.

For example - 100ml of Tom Ford 'Lost Cherry' eau de parfum for £45? This retails at over £300. So obviously fake.

I'm glad they at least banned the sellers, vinted completely ignored any of my reports about quite blatantly fake sellers. I guess they profit too much from it

Yes, I also wondered if Vinted had a vested interest in permitting as many fake selling accounts as there currently are popping up on there.

Loads of fake Adidas Samba and Spezials

Banditbiscuits · 11/12/2025 19:03

I wanted YSL Libre perfume and the amount I saw for a 1/3 of the RRP felt too good to be true then my algorithm changed to designer gear of which some was blatantly fake due to the random prices and same seller just using different accounts and similar photography.

CiderandSprouts · 11/12/2025 19:11

Thanks, OP. I was going to post something like this myself. I've been a massive fool.

Collected fake perfume yesterday- Black Opium. I had a bad feeling I'd been conned almost as soon as I parted with the cash. I researched fake Black Opium so by the time I took delivery I was ready to write my report and a full refund is on its way.

The seller was still flogging it until he/she refunded me but now it's gone. A bit telling that the seller had a batch.

I'm gonna wait until I get my refund back then give negative feedback- if I still can after the 'return.'

It's over £100 for 90ml in Boots and I paid....£22.

A buffoon is born!😂

I think it’s worth repeatedly reporting fake accounts. Vinted needs to tighten up their security on this in a major way. So far today I’ve reported fake Chanel beanie hats, Versace and Fendi sweatshirts, a ton of clearly fake Dior and Chanel jewellery and loads more Tom Ford perfume.

It’s a tsunami of fake crap and it enrages me that platforms like Vinted aren’t doing more to help stamp it out.

Yep, the photographs are replicated through loads of fake accounts.

@Tabitha005 this evening I reported the seller because today they uploaded amother bottle of fake Black Opium. This was their reply and I'm disgusted-

We’ve received your report but couldn’t take action to discipline scars10 because it needs a further review. Thank you for reporting this - you’re helping make Vinted a community where everyone can feel safe.

Although we haven’t taken action against this member, you can block them so they’re no longer part of your Vinted experience. Learn more about blocking another member.

Block them- as if that helps the poor souls who are unwittingly being robbed!

I can't review scars10 . Hopefully I can when I get my money back.

It seems that I cannot review because the sale was cancelled ,which is ludicrous when the reason is fraud.

Massive well done,you.

disappearingfish · 11/12/2025 23:29

Yes it’s so bad now. My Home Screen used to be filled with stuff I was interested in, now it’s wall to wall knock off jewellery. I actually bought something and have sent it back for a full refund because it was so obviously fake.

I am just blocking as many of these sellers as I can.

I’m so sad. I used to love Vinted.

I'd respond to Vinted again and push the point. I was also wondering if reporting them to Trading Standards or the equivalent for online shopping (is there even such a thing?) might have some effect. I'm turning into a crusader on this issue because I'm so sick of people getting ripped off by fake shite and criminals!

OP posts:
Tabitha005 · 12/12/2025 08:52

@disappearingfish Yes, me too - I loved the format of Vinted but now that scumbag criminals have got their claws into it in such a big way, it's really pulling the whole platform down.

OP posts:
WhineAndWine1 · 12/12/2025 08:58

I’m sorry but surely if you are buying a love bracelet for example for £100. You know it’s fake. Same with cheap perfume. It’s on you if you do.

Tabitha005 · 12/12/2025 09:18

@WhineAndWine1 - in some cases, I agree, but why should that preclude Vinted - or any platform - taking action to control the flood of fake products being offered via their channel? My main issue here is with Vinted not doing more to help stamp out the scourge of counterfeit products.

Theunamedcat · 12/12/2025 09:47

It's like Ebay now

Yes, I also wondered if Vinted had a vested interest in permitting as many fake selling accounts as there currently are popping up on there.

I reported loads of accounts recently and they didn't even bother to investigate just got a message back immediately saying they've investigated but aren't taking any action at this time, so they obviously havent

These were quite blatant fakes, same as you duplicate photos but with different backgrounds. Multiple acounts with the same exact selection of goods

I definitely think it's because Vinted make good money from these sellers, I see no other reason to not ban sellers who have multiple reviews saying they sell counterfeits who must have had multiple reports! It's really put me off, I won't use them again

Toothfairy89 · 12/12/2025 13:19

WhineAndWine1 · 12/12/2025 08:58

It's illegal to sell counterfeit goods. So yes you might be an idiot but its still on the seller who's breaking the law, and on vinted for knowingly profiting off the sale of counterfeit goods

WhineAndWine1 · 12/12/2025 13:56

@Toothfairy89 I can’t get hand wringing over people selling snide stuff also wouldn’t be buying things like second hand perfume either. It’s still more fool you if you think you can get a bottle of real perfume that retails for £££ for £20.

Marylou2 · 12/12/2025 13:59

Cashmere Burberry scarves for £30. Hundreds of them. Pic of a real one but they'll all be fakes when they arrive.

Unicornsandprincesses · 12/12/2025 14:16

It’s rife on Amazon, eBay and TikTok too.

i got an email from Amazon saying they found my Ceravee face cream was fake, and refunded me the £20. I Googled it and read a Which article that said they blind bought and tested loads of product and the percentage that turned out to be fake… well…. I’m only buying cosmetics from Boots now!!!

There can be all sorts of dangerous crap in the fake cosmetics. Apparently, it’s all tied to organised crime gangs…. Doesn’t surprise me

CiderandSprouts · 12/12/2025 17:25

@Tabitha005 I did have a look at Trading Standards. My takeaway is that you can claim your £ back when things go wrong but basically your contract is with the seller and not Vinted so Vinted are not at fault.

I got my £ back today so will chalk it down to experience.

I guess good citizens like you and I can do more than spread the word and at the end of the day, are people silly for expecting things they buy from an established selling platform to be authentic? Probably-sad sign of the times.
