Christmas crackers with decent contents

most Christmas crackers seem to have plastic tat inside that just gets binned. Even the posh ones have metal things, but no one really wants a mini cheese grater or mini paper knife. So they still get binned.

one year I found some lovely crackers with wood Christmas tree decorations that we could all put on the tree and which I’ve kept. but I’ve never found those again :-(

what are the best recommendations for crackers where the stuff inside is decent?

Last year I bought some from RSPB. They had little metal bird pin badges. They were lovely.
Brand Alley often have quality crackers discounted.

Look up Kuckoo crackers on Amazon, they were mentioned on MN last year and I got the one with Christmas characters.
They were a great hit on our house!

Make your own - then you get what you actually want.

Hotel Chocolat or make your own.

I bought some from Etsy one year, with good quality fudge inside. One of them was labelled gluten free for an intolerance.
others years I bought some ‘fill your own’ from John Lewis

Thanks. I don't have the time or energy to fill my own unfortunately!

Filling your own is the best way – all other crackers are rubbish basically unless you spend an absolute fortune. Sad but true.

I understand as I’ve been there. How about filling them with chocolates/fudge, or similar consumables so that no tat is going in the bin? I might get those and do this myself.

Robin Reed make ones with wooden nutcracker decorations inside I think, not sure if that's what you got last time. I think they also do musical ones where each cracker contains a different bell or whistle and each person has to blow/ring their turn to make music. I bought musical ones last year but unfortunately for me my parents weren't much interested & the kids were too young/didn't really pay attention so no-one other than me and my brother joined in so it was a flop🤦‍♀️ I think amazon sell the Robin reed ones, and lots of places do musical ones now if you search if its your sort of thing.

We are trying Cult Pen crackers this year , they have stationery items in them so hopefully will be better than the usual tat although we chose them because they look lovely .

Meri Meri one’s are lovely, some have games in, Christmas decorations, little rubbers, wooden badges.

I’m filling my own this year - I’ve bought some nice ones that a lot together and come with hats and jokes and added everyone a packet of wildflower seeds and a Christmas themed dingbat
