Burberry scarf. Real or Fake?

I am stuck on whether this scarf is the real deal or fake. I bought it for £40 on vinted thinking it was a genuine fake, but now I am not so sure… it’s so hard to tell even by trying to google it. See images as provided. What do you think?

What is a genuine fake?

Biosblbay · 04/12/2025 16:21

@Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies when it is a good quality fake but you can still tell it is fake by the labels

Thanks. Can't help at all. Just curious.

Fake. The bag is embossed from the label. The garment labels are not correct , usually they are only loosely sewn on with a stitch at two corners so you can easily snip them off. The real scarf itself is much thicker than this and the edges, whilst blunt are not frayed. The genuine is either a more heavy felt texture cashmere or a much lighter weave cashmere. I have a lot of these and have not seen the label ever sewn in like that. Also, with Burberry, they dont crease. Ever. I have used mine as a blanket, pillow, rolled it round airplane seats, folded it into a tiny square to filter out smells, and a million other things and it has never been creased or crinkled. Its perfectly nice and not a bad fake, only someone with a lot of knowledge of the label would know, I would highly recommend getting a medium weight genuine article. Its a lifetime purchase you wont regret.

@Salvadoridory thank you so much for this! I have always wanted a real Burberry cashmere scarf and will definitely get one. I just can’t comprehend spending £400 on a scarf just yet! Do they bobble, frey or anything like that? I would hate to get one that looks overly worn after a few uses/ washes

No bobbling at all, they just go on and on and on. I will photograph a couple tomorrow for you. The best is the lightweight one, even though it doesnt look snuggly, its warm and can be worn as a winter scarf or over a dress or bikini on holiday. Really versatile
