Is my phone broken for good?

The kids water bottle leaked and I now have a wet phone with a wet battery. I managed to turn it on but it has gone off again. I have taken it to bits to dry it out but I am not hopeful. This is the second time this has happened.

If it has gone for good is there anyway to retrieve the photos I had on there, and OMG all the numbers/email addresses and messages?

try putting it in a bowl of raw rice; the grains might absorb the damp. worked for a friend of mine who dropped hers into a bath of running water.

my dd2 dropped my new one down the loo on saturday, took battery and sim card out and left in bowl of rice and after 24 hours works fine.

If you have all your numbers etc saved to sim (not phone) then you'll be able to put your sim in another phone and they'll be there, photos depends mine has a memory card that can be removed and I can access them via that

I took mine apart, put it on kitchen roll in the aing cupboard. Left it 24 hrs it was fine.. until i dropped it under my car teh next day and ran over it.

It seems okay this morning, but thank you for the offer. I will see how I get on today as the keypad is a bit tempremental.

my keypad was still tempremental (and occasionally screen would dissapear) yesterday morning so left it drying out for another day and its fine today (apart from one key that makes the characters go right but they may have been broken before

micci25 · 10/06/2008 08:51

my sister put hers through the washer twice!!! and it still worked. leave it to dry out at least 24 hours and you should be fine.

NotABanana · 10/06/2008 10:46

Seems okay at the minute but I haven't had, sent or received any calls or texts to know for sure.

wonderwomanakaeandh · 10/06/2008 11:01

Have you tried ringing it from your home phone and viced versa then you could check the calls, send dh a text to test that way

NotABanana · 10/06/2008 11:39

It rang fine when I used the land line but none of the keys are working atm.
