Ideal World requesting 2 forms of ID

Last night I made a purchase on Ideal World shopping channel website for £399.

They sent me an email today asking for :

Card Statement (Mandatory)
Council Tax Bill
Or Driving Licence

They said because it’s a new account they need ID. It’s not a new account as I bought something off there years ago. I know they were taken over 18 months ago.

I went on their official website and rang and it was a call centre which sounded abroad. They said they need 2 forms of ID sent in an email!

I don’t give out my ID unless absolutely necessary such as securing a new job or passport application. I have never heard a shopping channel just wants 2 forms of ID to ‘verify a billing address’.

It’s not like they even have an encryption site to submit the ID they say just email the ID over.

Anyone else been request for ID for a purchase?

they want to know its def you making the purchase, an account thats not been used in so long could be a red flag for fraud
