Is Amazon still worth it? Prime, pricing, returns — what’s everyone doing now?

Hi all,
I’m trying to decide whether to keep Amazon Prime for another year and thought I’d ask here, as the Shopping board always has good insight!
I feel like prices on Amazon have crept up recently, and I’m not always convinced I’m getting the best deal anymore. Delivery is still handy, but I’ve had a couple of odd issues with returns being “lost” and only getting refunds after chasing.
A few things I’m wondering:

  • Do you still find Amazon good value compared with supermarkets or other online shops?
  • Anyone cancelled Prime recently — did you miss it?
  • Are the lightning deals and vouchers even worth paying attention to now?
  • Any favourite lesser-known Amazon brands or things you always buy there?
Would love to hear how others are using Amazon these days — stick with it, or better to shop around more? Thanks!

I personally will not continue when my subscription expires, it’s nothing like it used to be and all the prime products are more expensive I also rarely get them next day now, the films/tv are shir and have adverts, I’m out. Gonna spend the money on some good books from a good old fashion book store.

I cancelled mine on Tuesday as a direct result of the courier leaving an electrical item on the doorstep in the rain. I got called out to a meeting but would normally be in. I don't have a safe place and certainly don't count the doorstep as a safe place.

Prime video is rubbish. I do like next day delivery for 'free' but I guess I am now paying £70 ish pounds for it. It auto selects delivery that isn't next day usually ans you are right, a couple of things that were not delivered I actually had to chase a refund for.

I'm torn. I also pay £80 a year for a supermarket delivery pass, but ut definitely saves me time. The amazon one is becoming less valuable to me.

I’ve had to return 50% is what I’ve bought as the quality has been appalling. At least the process is smooth but it’s definitely putting me off buying again.

I stopped my Prime membership in July - it just got too expensive. I can still:

  • get free delivery to my local Co Op regardless of order value
  • access most of the prime day deals
  • subscribe and save with free delivery still works
  • I'm fine with 2-3 day delivery, Prime took 2 days anyhow

Very very unlikely I'll ever go back to a paid account, not in any way worth the £90/year or whatever it costs now.

I am umming and ahhhing due to a recent experience, ordered something that was meant to be with me the next day and when I went to look at the tracking info saw that they had handed the delivery over to Eviri which made me a bit anxious. Parcel did not turn up the next day and then they said they had tried to deliver it at 8.05 pm but nobody answered the door which was untrue as I sitting in the front room sending some emails which meant I could check the time and nobody knocked on my door. Then they said it was going to be delivered 3 days later. Following morning and there was a faint knock at the door, ran downstairs and there was my parcel dumped on the step in the pouring rain, it is rough where I live and it is a minor miracle that I managed to grab it before a passer by did. It was wet and bent and I was not happy, the delivery record said "handed to resident"
