Ok further to my sports cars and kids question - anyone own a Z4?

Hi again, further to my post the other day about finding a sports car which ds could go in....
Dh seems to think a Z4 is ok for a child seat and you can turn the airbag off....anyone got one? Can you turn the airbag off as frequently as you want to?

(I guess I could just call a dealer and ask but am too lazy!)

Not strictly relevant to your Z4 thread, but I have a Merc sports coupe and I know from the Merc dealership that it is illegal for them to deactivate airbags. Plus I don't think it is a user option either (but have never tried).

I have a special Merc baby seat that has a device to deactivate the airbag when the carseat is in the front passenger seat. At all other times the airbag functions as normal. The downside of having this type of seat is that it is not designed to fit onto a pram chassis (at least not the one I have). The other thing is the seat is fairly expensive.

I would expect all of this to apply to a Z4 as well.

Saskia - that's really useful as I was wondering how the de-activation worked. I'm sure you're right in that it is highly likely to be the same on a BMW.
