Dumb question, but...armbands, armbands and rubber ring, floatie seat thing...?

float vest for my DD who is 2 - she loves it and swims on her own with it on. She didn't like armbands at all - too restrictive I think.

fizzbuzz · 07/06/2008 21:31

..and a float vest is......? Like a
life jacket over he head???

Don't forget the swimming costume

LydiaLunch · 07/06/2008 21:57

Those wetsuit (neoprene?) shoes for running (!!!) on the sides.

bozza · 07/06/2008 22:02

Mine wore armbands. Those seat things are for younger children I would say.

fizzbuzz · 08/06/2008 09:16

Cammelia lol...just bought one of those! That's why I need to know what they wear to float in!

In fact have just read my stupid question. It should read "What floating stuff should they wear in the swimming baths?.

I now it used to be rubber rings and armbands at 2 but just wondered if anyone else knew any better

Mine used a floaty vest thing.

It is a zip up gachet with IIRC 6 'chambers' in . As they get more confident you can reduce the numver of chambers.

Sometimes they wore armbands

Blandmum · 08/06/2008 09:26

like this

TheBlonde · 08/06/2008 09:31

float jacket or armbands

belgo · 08/06/2008 09:36

I'm about to take dd2 aged two and nine months swimming. She'll be wearing a swimming costume and armbands. We also have a life jacket type thing, but she doesn't like it at all.

And bare feet - I find bare feet grip the best on the side of the pool (they shouldn't be running!)

Love2bake · 08/06/2008 09:38

Arm bands

Nemoandthefishes · 08/06/2008 09:41

dds both use armbands

seeker · 08/06/2008 09:54

Arm bands. Mine found everything else too restricting. And you can let a little air out as they get more confident. And they don't cost a fortune, so it doesnt't matter so much if they get lost. And if you forget them you can buy another pair without it breaking the bank.

SoupDragon · 08/06/2008 09:56

Nothing bar a swimsuit and a swim nappy.

Macdog · 08/06/2008 10:05

my 2yo goes to swimming classes with just armbands

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/06/2008 10:09

Swim nappy, swimsuit and armbands here.

fizzbuzz · 08/06/2008 12:59

Well, looks like the armbands then.

Life jacket things look good, but as am taking her under duress and reluctantly, I don't want to buy something expensive as I would have to get money's worth from it.

Contributed quite a lot to the thread about 6 weeks ago on how much people hated taking dc's swimming

hope you enjoy it! Agree, just buy arm bands. I think my dd2 finds the life jacket type thing too restrictive.

bozza · 08/06/2008 19:57

My children at 2 could swim around independently in arm bands, but if your child is unused to the water it is possible that they might not be able to do that.
