FITFLOPS - Do they work & what size to get?

Needamassage · 05/06/2008 18:03

Have just bought a pair of Fitflops.

Was wondering what others had experienced with the "toning" that is promised?

Also, I am a size 5 and half/six and they recommended going up a size but the 6 looks really big and the straps are a bit loose. Should I go for a 5 instead?

TIA!

recommend you get MBTs instead

Flibbertyjibbet · 05/06/2008 18:09

Link please.

I find any bog standard 99p flip flops exercise my legs and feet very well. How much are these?

Hi Darthvader. I just wanted flip flops for the summer, didn't really want trainers.

Thought these would give me a workout as well but they seem a bit clumpy and ugly.

Don't really have an opinion regarding toning but they have really helped with my lower back pain and have improved my posture, I think.

Freckle · 05/06/2008 18:34

I can certainly feel the muscles in my legs and bum have been working. I don't think they look ugly. I've had loads of compliments about mine.

I would love some MBTs, but not at over £100 a pair.

I'd go for 6 .. I'm a 5 to 5 1/2 and fit is snug so I'd go for next one up.

and they are super comfy (so do wear them lots) and do seem to be doing the job in making you feel like posture improved. Am 38 weeks pregnant and are by far most comfy shoes in terms of making posture correct as alistair sim says and nice and cushioned so extra weight distributed round feet.

and don't look any worse than other flip flops.

sagacious · 05/06/2008 18:39

I twisted my ankle a few weeks ago.. fitflops were the only thing I could wear.

I'm a bog standard six and they fit really well.

I have the black ones but am lusting after the new silver ones .

Unsure as to toning .. I'm currently on a diet involving large amounts of fruit and veg and not much else.

Cellulite has disappeared though

Needamassage · 05/06/2008 18:48

Thanks. Sounds good about helping with posture and back pain - definitely not sending them back now!

Still not sure about the size though. They feel a little bit big. Am worried about them rubbing.

They are shite, cheaply made and ill fitting. Mbt's are miles better, and they really do work!!

poppy34 · 05/06/2008 18:56

kitty I take it you've tried both so this is what makes you say that. Reason I like them at the moment is puffy feet mean that any covered in trainers are bad news.

surreylady · 05/06/2008 18:57

love mine so comfy - dont know if they work though - dont think i wear them enough (not ideal for meetings!) haven't come across MBT's do you have a link please

hermykne · 05/06/2008 18:58

needa -im 5 1/2 , got a 5 but next time i'd get a 6.

kittywise · 05/06/2008 22:26

Poppy, I found that they were far too wide across the top of my foot so that my feet had no support and were moving around in them. The mbt's are quality shoes, too expensive for sure but excellent and are sooo wonderfully comfortable.

DarthVader · 06/06/2008 19:07

MBTs are v good for posture & if you have any joint injuries/ musculoskeletal problems - I have the sandals. They are pricey but the same as 2 osteopath visits for me!

Legend · 06/06/2008 19:11

they look very silly though

cosima · 06/06/2008 19:11

sagacious - are you talking hardened, longstanding cellulite? cos if so i'm buying some tomorrow
