Christmas presents, 1 year old?

Teamustbefromateapot · 18/10/2025 12:29

Baby #3 turned one in October and I really struggled to think of presents thanks to two older siblings who have everything #3 could need!
Now thinking to Christmas, has anyone bought anything wonderful for their 1 / 2 year old that is a little out of the ordinary? Totally happy to buy things that aren't toys or are for further down the line.

Help!

If it was me, I'd just go to a charity shop, get rid of 3 items you already own and buy 3 new ones just so they have something to open. At 1 they aren't aware and don't need anything but it's nice to still include them.

Wot23 · 18/10/2025 12:52

why do you think a 1year old needs a present?
make a charity donation in their name rather than pander to consumerism

Teamustbefromateapot · 18/10/2025 13:26

I certainly don't think a one year old needs a present, but in the name of all that's Christmas, I'd like to get a few bits for the older sibs to not notice baby has nothing! They also love to buy gifts for each other so just looking for a few things that could be nice. For example, for birthday they got a water bottle, pram suit and first shoes that were all needed things as opposed to just buying for the sake of it!

My one year old twins are getting new wash sponges and toothbrushes 😂
Probably a new book too (new to us, probably from Vinted). And maybe a bubble wand so they have one fun new thing.
They've already got all the toys and clothes they need.

when my daughter was one (a couple of months off 2) she got the Melissa and Doug wooden ice cream stand, it’s almost 5 years now old and is still played with most days. It’s by far the best value for money toy she’s ever had and it’s pretty much immaculate still.

I bought boxes for tidy up and books for Christmas with number 3.

with respect, that shows you have no idea what "in the name of all that is Christmas" truly means.

Poor choice of wording. I should've really said 'in the name of all that is Santa'... Obv not what Christmas is really about, but how do you explain to two children under 5 that the 1 year old didn't get visited!

Of course Santa has to come to this little one. Their siblings will wonder if they get nothing. You are quite right. Here’s some suggestions:
ball pit
doll house/fire station house
Wendy house
slide
activity cube
Mid kitchen
Montessori climbing frame.

xx

Thank you for your kind comment. I was starting to feel crazy! Some of these suggestions are lovely, and things all 3 could enjoy. Thank you!

Farm animal puzzle.
not sure if it’s still made, but Jelly cat did a lovely ‘animal tail’ book
soft toy.
sensory toy or touchy-feely book
sterling silver spoon / cup / egg cup/ jug (depending on budget) baby can unwrap, enjoy the shiny thing (if it’s a spoon could chew it for a while) then put it away and when 18, can be kept or sold!

If you're not precious about fingerprints on your windows, my one yo absolutely loves her gel clings, moves them around for hours.

A wooden wobble board thing that is a wobble rocker one way, and turn it upside down its a bridge or a den for toys.
