Not really old, mid 30s and 3 kids, wfh so don’t get out much to see what everyone’s wearing. Just want to know what the current cool/go with everything trainers are. Or even not cool! Just overwhelmed by choice and shapes, some suggestions please!

I think new balance are still cool (going by my adult kids, not as if I have any 😁)

jomaIone · 12/10/2025 17:59

Everyone I know is wearing Adidas sambas

SushiDisco · 12/10/2025 18:05

If you’re looking for something chunky/ sporty then asics or new balance 530

something a bit more streamline then adidas spezials or SL 72’s.

SpottyAardvark · 12/10/2025 18:07

I wouldn’t know what was ‘cool’ if it smacked me in the face, but I do know that the classic Adidas trainers, eg Spezial, Gazelle, Samba will never go out of style.

GrassNeedsaMow · 12/10/2025 18:08

I got some Hoka trainers (Bondi 9) because they are insanely comfortable and since I got them lots of people (young ones!) have noted that I have fashionable trainers on. I had no idea, they were recommended to me for comfort!

Adidas sambas, in particular the leopard print ones

Itsnotallaboutyoulikeyouthink · 12/10/2025 18:12

What’s cool? Cool is purely subjective first post recommends new balance… imo these have never been cool, their mumsy. Just get what you like and try a few diff styles on.

adviceneeded1990 · 12/10/2025 18:15

Just wear what is comfy to you. I love my spezials and DH will probably be buried in his sambas, no idea if they are still trendy.

casualcrispenjoyer · 12/10/2025 18:21

you won’t go wrong with NB or any of the adidas mentioned

but cool at the moment is very ‘technical’ trainers- like ones intended for specific sports. I read an article where they were pushing ones used by judokas. Or Salomon walking trainers, or hokas like a pp has said.

or they are being shunned completely for interesting flats. Dressy shoes are back, just not heels

I'm not seeing much Sambas around. I think they're at the end of their run. I'm seeing more SL72s.

painauchoc512 · 12/10/2025 18:37

I love my Onitsuka Tigers. They’re super comfortable and they do loads of different colours.

This made me go back and check my trainers and you’re right…they’re sl72s 😂 bought last month when I had similar thoughts to the OP and did a splurge on three new sets of trainers. They look amazing and have had a ton of comments. Also come in loads of different patterns and colours.
