Anything better/cheaper/newer than in Europe? Or stuff we can’t get? Any holy grails?

I guess I’m talking cosmetics or beauty stuff but also clothes or accessories or even food!

I always bring back the following:
Ranch seasoning - I mix this with greek yoghurt to make a healthy dip
Taco spice mix
Peanut M&Ms
Goldfish crackers
I usually get these from Costco in the larger packs.
If you are anywhere near Washington DC there's a retail outlet called Potomac Mills that have some good shops such as Levis, Converse, etc
Carharrt and Ariat clothing is also cheaper - Rural King or Tractor Supply usually stock a good range, but you can also pick up stuff from Lowes.

I buy tablecloths from Walmart. they are stain resistant and don’t need ironing. You can also buy large tubs of ibruprofen there.
Skechers shoes in outlet stores.
Walmart have cheap clothes that are long lasting.

Sanity?
I think they have sold out though.

Things I often bring back:
B grade Maple syrup in the large plastic bottles
Large bags of baking chips (semisweet choc, peanut butter, butterscotch)
Old Bay seasoning
Everything bagel seasoning
Tumble dryer sheets
Heavy duty ziploc/glad bags
Large bottles of ibuprofen, paracetamol, antihistamines and melatonin

It's worth checking prices as things are so expensive in the states now, it's usually cheaper over here unless it's just completely unavailable like the medication.

I can only think of things I need less of from the USA…

TableTopppp · 11/10/2025 13:25

Trader Joe’s products are the only thing I really bring back. Their cotton shopping bags, pecan pralines, bagel
seasoning and peanut bites are the stuff of legend but google search their best products or “must haves” it’s good value. They also have some good cosmetics. The bags are a bit of a UK trend moment too. Also melatonin! Lots of it from walgreens. And goldfish crackers.

DP has been a couple of times recently and I’ve really struggled to find anything I needed or wanted. I think most things are available here nowadays and as the exchange rate isn’t what it was there isn’t much saving to be had either. I ended up asking for a couple of things for the kids.

TalkSomeSense2 · 11/10/2025 13:40

Trader Joes! Yum!

IMakeDealsWithTheDevil · 11/10/2025 13:44

Just check the ingredients of the seasonings suggested for titanium dioxide - banned in EU for changing DNA...

muggart · 11/10/2025 13:48

cough sweets, they are so strong they actually work.

America is no longer anywhere near as cheap as it used to be sadly!
