I need to buy a laptop for my 13 year old son- mainly for homework and email stuff. I'd really appreciate your advice

I like the HP ones, they are cheaper than some others but very reliable. I recently bought my daughter an HP Pavillion which seems good for homework but also (a bit too) good for watching Netflix.

I would say HP or Dell as they are often used as work laptops so should have the kind of functionality that you want.

Chromebook. Does everything a 13 year old needs to do, are cheap, fast and doesn’t get slow.

In the remote chance he needs some specific software like Photoshop or Autocad to complete his year 9 homework then get a regular laptop.

Another vote for HP here. DH and I have for years used business level HP laptops for work ( solicitors) and we bought HPs for our DSs for school and university.

We find HP laptops to be more hardwearing and reliable than other brands we had used in the past.
