Ordered from Costco online - is this legit?!

Little bit worried that my order isn’t legit, I could be overthinking it. I don’t have a Costco account, but I found a really cheap drinks fridge as most others I have looked at are like £130+ I thought I would try my luck to see what happens ordering from Costco and it went through! Didn’t ask me for a membership number at all.
The confirmation email ended up going into my junk folder and the email hasn’t come from Costco but has come from UKZHILIAN.
Is this legit or could it be fraudulent? I did receive a confirmation email with order number, does say Costco on the invoice but we all know these can be forged. But I did access this through the Costco website. Just a bit confused. Any ideas?

I have just done exactly the same thing! I bought a mini fridge from Costco and the payment seems to have gone to a clothing company in china. The next day I get a call from my bank saying that someone has tried to use my bank card in Canada. I immediately thought I’ve been scammed. However I have received an email saying that my order is o its way 🤷‍♀️ I will wait another week and if no further forward I will contact my bank again. Have to say I do feel it’s a scam and I will be very careful in the future and double check Trustpilot

Normally if you order from Costco you need to be a member

hope you get your money back

Bjorkdidit · 26/09/2025 10:13

Could it be a fake Costco website? There seems to be a lot of those now. It's very clever and I don't know how they do it but if you google something, somehow you get taken to a genuine looking website selling what you want, but it's fake.

I had it with some walking shoes but thankfully realised just after I'd made the order so I cancelled my card. DP has also had it with a clothing brand he likes and after that, his card was used in a foreign country so he had to cancel his card.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 26/09/2025 10:17

The UK site requires membership for online purchases, you have to login with your membership number. Judging by the sender on that email it’s a scam – I’d call and cancel your card now.

@Jakadaal update: Just called Costco and they confirmed that my order isn’t legitimate and is fraud. I’ve had to cancel my card and request the money back. He said the cheapest wine cooler they have is about £400!

So many convincing scams about now in run up to Xmas. Be careful everyone.

Biosblbay · 26/09/2025 16:53

@Jakadaal just been told I can’t get my money back. Basically was told that it’s my fault for not noticing it as scam. Hope you’re able to get a refund! Some banks are more lenient than others!

If you paid by credit card (hopefully you're not one of those Mumsnetters who 'doesn't need a credit card' because this is one of the reasons why you do) you can get your money back under section 75 protection. If you paid by debit card you might be able to do a charge back, moneysavingexpert.com gives advice on this.

I ordered a pushchair from what I thought was Costco, got an email from this UKZHILIAN company which gave me new shipping info each day for a few weeks. I checked today and it says my parcel arrived on the 17th

AngelofIslington · 23/10/2025 16:18

At the moment the bank don’t know it’s a scam.
You can not dispute the transaction if you don’t give the seller a chance to fulfill their part of the deal.
Unfortunately your contract is with the other company not Costco.
If you don’t get the goods by the delivery date your bank will absolutely be able to dispute this on the basis you’ve paid for goods you haven’t received.
All hope is not lost op

Go onto the actual costco site:

https://www.costco.co.uk/

And see if you can find the item. You can buy from Costco online as a non-member I think, costs an extra 5% or something. But I'm not sure if you still have to register first. The other name looks really dodgy though.

If you think it's a site cloning Costco I would contact Costco I suspect they will not be best pleased.
