What are the toys that really get played with & loved? Please DO NOT tell me about anything that requires a TV as I don't have nor want one... thanks!

How about a chainsaw?

ready4anothercoffee · 03/06/2008 02:03

Go to a local electrical superstore and pilfer an empty fridge sized cardboard box.

Still works for my little terrors darlings

I book with noisy buttons on...

JoyS · 03/06/2008 11:22

Picnic set.

Or just a large bowl/box with interesting things in it: some toys, measuring cups, cookie cutters... Kept mine busy for hours. She still hits the baking cupboard for amusement when I'm in the kitchen!

These eggs were one of our BEST ever buys - we bought them in 2002, and they have been constantly (and I mean CONSTANTLY) played with since!

TsarChasm · 03/06/2008 12:30

Whatever you get the box it came in will be favourite

onelittlelion · 03/06/2008 13:02

Rocking horse, little tikes car, kitchen/cooking things, bear and a buggy are faves that ds got for his first birthday and are still much loved now he's coming up to 2.

whoopsididitagain · 03/06/2008 13:07

my little one loves balls of wool cars and anything hat makes a noise lol shes crazy lol

she also loved her ball pool/paddling pool

it comes in for the winter so she can use it and out in the garden with balls and water come summer

sarahmsqt · 03/06/2008 13:50

Thanks everyone, I think I'll opt for the eggs and a basket/box with assorted householdbits. ...any comments on fisher price little people farm sets? Is it too early?

DS still plays with his activity cube we got from Argos - he's 2.5 now

Anchovy · 03/06/2008 13:55

I can't recommend stacking cups enough. I know they are low tech but both of my Dcs have had hours of fun with them. (Cheap as chips as well - really don't think that you need to get anything expensive for a 1 year old!)

Nappyzoneneedsanewname · 03/06/2008 13:56

my ds 18 months is just starting with the little people stuff that was his sisters. He loves sitting in his little tykes car though! it was a £5 out of the classified ads and is the best fiver i ever spent!

mumoftwo37 · 03/06/2008 13:58

My mum bought a Fisher Price farm for DS2 when he was 1 and he loved it. That was 10 years ago mind so it might have changed now. We had those tomy eggs and they were well used by both Ds's. A sauce pan and a wooden spoon were favourites too!
