I already have a grey mirror wardrobe and chest of drawers. I want to get either a black or grey metal bedframe and need a pair of bedside tables.

If I get a black metal bedframe will the bedside tables need to be black as well or should they be grey to match the wardrobe and chest of drawers I already have.

Sounds a bit like a prison cell! I’m sure it’s not, but maybe go for a bright colour for your lamp. Yellow?

Haha this made me laugh out loud! I think yellow would go quite well actually : )

You don’t need to match everything exactly – rooms usually look nicer when there’s a bit of balance rather than all one colour.

If you go for a black metal bedframe, both options can work:

  • Grey bedside tables will tie in nicely with your wardrobe and chest of drawers and keep the room feeling soft and coordinated.
  • Black bedside tables will create a more “matched set” look with the bed, but can feel a bit heavy if everything dark is clustered in one area.

A nice middle ground is grey tables with black handles or legs – that way they link to both pieces and look intentional rather than accidental.

Also worth thinking about is height and size compared to the bed, as that can make more difference visually than colour alone. I found this guide helpful when I was choosing mine – it explains proportions and storage really clearly (no salesy stuff, just practical):

Why Proportion and Material Matter For Your Nightstand

But honestly, either colour will work – I’d choose based on which look you prefer waking up to every day 😊

Why Proportion and Material Matter For Your Nightstand

A nightstand is the most used furniture in your room. Learn the ergonomic rules and surface logic that separate a quick purchase from a piece built to last.
