Can i return this steriliser??

I brought a boots own sterilser for £39.99 i`ve used it now for about 5 weeks.

The glue around the seal of the sterilser started to come away about 2 weeks after first use which i didnt have a problem with and tonight i put it on and it started buzzing loudly and the light was flashing on and off so i have turned it straight off.

Well needless to say i now haven`t got a steriliser and i need one.

This looks to be a faulty one to me, i still have the box it came in and all the bit n bobs.

Can i return it or do i have to grin n bear it and buy a new one?

Return it, it's not fit for purpose.

Take it back. I would. Large chains like that that are known for their baby products shouldn't have a problem with it. Try, you might as well, got nothing to lose

thank you both, i will have to take it straight to boots in the morning as i need one asap really.

I really can`t believe it.

i wished i had stuck to the avent one i had with DD now, i never had any problems with that one

Have you got a microwave? If so buy a microwave one they are quicker and much more hardy.

mummyofaprincess · 31/05/2008 00:08

I have yeah, but never thought to buy one of them if i`m honest.

Im going to see if they will exchange this one, if not ill buy a microwave one.

The only reason i have this one is because i liked the style of it

My own fault really isn`t it.

I made the same mistake with dd and bought the avent electric steam one, it too broke after 3 months. Boots replaced it and that went again after 3 months. For ds1 we bought the boots own microwave steriliser and it was fab but we lost it during moving house so for ds2 we bought the tommee tippee closer to nature microwave steriliser which was on offer at Boots. It's fab but we are on to our third in 5 months because I left it on the hob and ds1 turned hob on cue melted plastic, then we bought another and I turned the wrong hob on and steriliser was on the one I turned on by mistake again melted plastic!! It is good though just don't leave it on your hob.

mummyofaprincess · 31/05/2008 11:35

i always leave the top bit of my steriliser on my hob must stop doing that really, but you have to turn the cooker on by the wall first so DD can`t turn the cooker on unless the wall has been turned on first.

I took the steriliser back to boots today and they changed it straight away

The lady also said if you have any problems with this one then bring it straight back and we will change it again, so i`m very happy.

Thank you for replying to me last night, i felt a bit stressed out as i thought i might have to buy a new one, even if they are really cheap.

I will invest in a microwave one as soon as i have the cash as you just never know!

My Avent one has just died after four months. I wish I'd done a bit more research before I bought it - it's a piece of junk.
