What camera mobile phone should I get?

I need to move into this century as my Nokia is a very basic hand me down from dh. I'd like a camera phone that has easy texting (similar to Nokia) but decent quality camera.

Willing to pay up to £150.00 but it'll have to be pay as you go (on Virgin)

Any recommendations?

i have a nokia 6230 which is good, has video recording too and an mp3 player, but the back is a pita to get off.

Is that the one you threatened to take a pic of me with lou?

Have you looked at Virgin's website yet, galaxy? I can recommend their "reconditioned" phones, they are brand-new but returned, DS2 got his SamsungA800 (not a camera phone) half price that way.

This Samsung one looks good (not recon), he's had his nearly a year and had no probs with it so on the strength of that they seem reliable!

galaxy · 19/01/2005 21:50

Hi Jan. Yes I've had a look but I did buy a reconditioned Samsung from Phones 4 U and it went bang after 6 months so am a bit reluctant. dh says I'm being a tart wanting a camera phone but I just think it's handy for taking snaps of the kids when they're being cute.

no its a new one

i could still take one though if you want

hoxtonchick · 19/01/2005 21:55

i've got a nokia 7250i (i think...) on orange. have to say that it takes really poor quality pictures, & i'm not going to get another camera phone again. spend your money on a decent digital camera instead!

lou33 · 19/01/2005 21:58

the one i had was the nokia 7250i , which might be cheaper now.

lou33 · 19/01/2005 22:00

the 6230 does better pics than the 7250i, agreed

sparklymieow · 19/01/2005 22:00

I have a samsung myV-55 and the camera is great, very clear, i will post a link of a pic taken with it, in a min. you can buy them in tesco for £60

sparklymieow · 19/01/2005 22:03

here you go

galaxy · 20/01/2005 11:20

Thanks sm! We do actually have a digital camera but I always forget to take it out - I never forget my mobile though so it seems a safe option.

sorry forgot that it a Vodafone phone but you could try and get it unlock, markets do it for about a tenner

galaxy · 20/01/2005 11:43

My ex dh runs a market stall selling phones but think he's on Salisbury market which would cost me more to get there.

Think there's one at the scabby Aldershot market that I can go to to get it done. Will go and have a look in Carphone Warehouse at lunchtime today too.

The phone I really want is this one but it's a bit expensive.

Your link doesn't work - just takes you to the GUS home page. Is it a Sagem as opposed to a Samsung Found it on another website and it looks good.

Don't know if you are interested but I have got a samsung e700 on pay as you go for sale. Its brand new really. Its on orange but I have just rung a phone shop and they can unlock it to be compatible with any network for £25.

Its this one here

galaxy · 20/01/2005 12:30

Hi Titania - I did see your thread but Virgin are doing that phone for £150 as an upgrade - not overly keen on Samsungs to be honest- at that price I'd probably go for the Motorola V620 but thanks anyway [amile]
