Help me find my ideal boot

morning, all! I have been looking for quite some time now for a new pair of boots but have been struggling to find something I really like. I am looking for:

  • leather boots
  • mid-calf length
  • flat, with good deep indentation on the bottoms for good grip on ice
  • eyelets, maybe 14(ish)
  • a zip on the inside of the foot
  • preferably dark red colour, but would also consider dark green, dark blue or brown
  • generally I prefer a chunkier style to something more dainty

The closest I’ve come to finding them are in this link below, but these are vegan and I’d really like leather as I think this would be more hard wearing and I know how to care for leather.

hopefully the link works! any help in finding my dream boot would be very much appreciated!

These from Fly London any good?

Thanks so much. Love the look of those! Definitely a contender! The bottoms don’t seem to have great grip which could be problematic as I spend time in icy countries over winter so need to ensure it would be suitable. But if I can’t find something suitable for icy/snow weather I might just get these for autumns here as I really like them!

Have you considered getting some ice and snow grips for the boots? Best of both worlds (although granted they don’t look especially aesthetically pleasing!)

Trying to avoid if possible as they look very touristy walking round the town centre with them.😆 but it might come to that, or a pair of ugly hiking boots that are more functional than stylish.

it’s so frustrating as I had the perfect pair of boots which I had for about 10 years before they died, and it would seem the company no longer exists as I can’t find them anywhere!

Have you looked for Nordic shoe shops? Seems like they’d be the obvious place for boots with grippy soles. Or Canadian brands maybe.

I've worn Clarks Orinoco boots for years and they cross the smart-practical gap for me. I wear them to interviews, parties and building sites. Just looked and most of them are ankle height but there are some taller ones. They have laces but I just ignore them and use the inside zip to get on and off. Lots or brown options, but come in black top.

Solovair 14 hole
I know they are black, but Solovair do several styles in a beautiful “burgundy rub off” colour, and boots from 8-20 holes high, with and without zips. It’s worth keeping an eye on their site to see what styles they have in what colours. I don’t know if they might do a bespoke service.

The Nordic ones tend to look very much like hiking boots or are made from gortex which I’m not into but good shout regarding Canadian brands! I will have a snoop. Thank you so much for the suggestion!

That’s exactly what I’m after. Something multipurpose. I will check those out, thank you

Slightly, but these are definitely making the short list!

Wrong colour but these are lovely and Celtic & Co are worth keeping an eye on over the next couple of months as they’ll likely have more choice nearer winter.

These are shorter but again, brown rather than red. There’s also these which are the right colour but no cleated sole.

If only I could smash them together to create the perfect boot 😆

thanks so much everyone for all the suggestions. Really appreciate it

Oooo these ARE lovely!!! I really like that buckle at the lower part too. I think I’d settle for brown as the style is gorgeous
