quiet stair gate

our neighbours are being woken up by our metal stair gate clanging when we shut it.

any recommendations for a quiet replacement?

Wooden or roller blind type one? Do you have very think walls?

thin. Not sentient walls...

not that i'd noticed... i think it's because the gate clangs against the doorframe every time we open or shut it and then reverberates into their bedroom. it's been up for six months and they only mentioned it today... poor people

we have lindham wooden ones, the older version slams shut and is noisy but the new ones you have to lift to close them. i prefer the ease of use of the slammy ones, but the lifty ones sound like what you're looking for
