where is the best place for girls school shoes?!
Clarks I usually go for but they seem so unsupportive and thin on the sole. I think as it’s the shoes they will wear most as in them so long each day that I wanted something better but don’t know where else to look for good ones.

rural so no shops to go to and look so recommendations please so can order online

Marks and Spencer… are they working online again yet?

I've got DD9 some really nice Lipsy ones from Next. Also got her some nice boots from river island. Both seem good quality with chunky soles.

The shoes are velcro fastened too but don't look it

Thank you both! Will have a look at them ☺️. Don’t know if M&S is back yet, haven’t tried recently but will look in a mo!
no doubt the shoes I think are perfect my children won’t🤣

Next we found last so much better than Clarks. They also have this fitting guide where you can print a measurer thing you then get them to stand on it up against a wall to work out the size.

Clinks used to do lots of brands. Depends on her age and school regs dr martens are good. Angry angels / start rite. Also had marks and Spencer’s. I’d stay away from next as we ve had a couple of bad pairs from there

Find an independent children's shoe shop and travel there. We travel 40 mins each way to the one we use. Worth their weight in gold

Caspianberg · 17/08/2025 13:25

Geox do a good selection

Talkingfrog · 17/08/2025 13:45

We had some from sketchers.

It depends on whether its primary or secondary tbh. We used to always get clarks for DD10. Now she only wears black trainers and I get skechers. DS15 likes clarks shoes, they are comfy and he has no interest in trends or fashion.

We have had no issue with Clarks wearing out or not being sturdy enough. I do find patent wears better on the 'outside' than matt leather though.

I tried Next last year and had to buy anl new pair by Oct half term as they were trashed! Sole coming off, front of shoe worn through. They looked a total mess. Went back to Clarks after that and that pair lasted the rest of the year!

We always buy startrite. They’re good quality, durable, nice range of styles and both DD and DS find them comfy. I bought their measuring gauge years ago so just measure at home then order online.

Depends on age. I have found Clark’s fell apart in weeks on my 5 year old boy. We are now using barefoot shoes from Bgreater and they are really lasting well. They do girls shoes too. Also just so much healthier for their feet when running about and they multitask as PE trainers too!
