Backpack reins - are any of them better than others?

I want to get some backpacks with reins for my 2 girls - one is nearly 2, the other is 5 with special needs (but slim).

Has anyone tried the ones that are like animals? Like these cgi.ebay.co.uk/Child-Toddler-Babies-Harness-Safety-Reins-Backpack_W0QQitemZ180247014366QQihZ008QQcat egoryZ116552QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

Or is there a general feeling that the Little Life ones are best?

I think my dd1 with SN is more likely to wear the monkey one (she loves monkeys) but not sure if they are as comfortable/effective.

I know I've heard that sometimes using the backpack reins means you end up nearly throttling your child.

Any thoughts/experiences welcome. Thanks.

Little life ones from John Lewis, very comfy and secure, nice to look at and space for a drink and toy. Definitley not for a child prone to tripping though, just to keep them close.

DS has little life and they're great - no throttling issues!

DS also has a littelife one great for pre school . The cow ones looks cool. He has a normal blue one though

Another vote for the little life ones - DS won't wear reins but he will wear this (and it takes his drink/snack/ snuggly - one less thing for me to carry). I think they need to be reasonable walkers first though - old fashioned reins were better for DS when he was just toddling as you could hitch him up with them. We got our little life back pack from a camping shop and it was a tenner - for once one of those cute bits of kiddie gear that actually works and is blooming useful (I'm sure I wouldn't let DS walk half as much without it as he is a right handful!!)
