I know these are washable but not sure if it is surface washable or what. Does anyone know?

I bought one secondhand from Ebay and then realised that they are only supposed to be sponge clean / surface washable. I took the plunge (no pun intended) and put mine in the bath with a very small amount of fairy non-bio then rinsed it really well. I then stuck it in the airing cupboard and finished the really thick bits off with the hairdryer. It came up really well - no damage done.
