I finally decided I would buy this high sleeper for DS1 with the sofa bed underneath for when DD wants to share his room. All set to order it and it is twice what I thought it was going to cost - £399. Why can't catalogue designers make it more obvious?

I really want it but can't afford £400 now. Any ideas for something similar but more in my price range? TIA.

Sorry I can't see why you thought it might be less - was the undersofa/desk an optional extra to a basic highsleeper frame. Ikea may be cheaper.

wheresthehamster · 28/05/2008 15:47

Why not just have this Argos frame and buy a seperate chair bed and storage for underneath?

cheesesarnie · 28/05/2008 15:52

i agree about frame then seperate fold out underneath like this

NotABanana · 28/05/2008 15:56

I thought it was less because it has a picture of it and a box saying £199.99 in big red letters. In miniscule black letters it says from...

Within the picture it als osays with desk and saofabed so I think it was a fair assumption to make.

Just a quick butt in - DS1 wanted a high sleeper which we bought him and he bloody hated it. It was very close to the ceiling and made him feel claustrophobic so we had to buy him a "normal"bed. He was used to sleeping in a top bunk before but this was much higher.

NotABanana · 29/05/2008 17:26

DS likes it as he wants his sister to sleep with him. When I showed him just a high sleeper he said Where is XX going to sleep?

mumoftwo37 · 29/05/2008 17:31

NAB DS1 wanted it too so he could have sleepovers but still hated it. Now his friends or DS2 have to sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag. Don't want you to waste £300 like I did.

NotABanana · 30/05/2008 19:20

Having to rethink as MIL told me he fell out of bed last week. She arrived just as he went so caught him just in time. I also have realised the mattress is almost 9 years old, even though he has only slept on it for 4 and a bit years so back to the drawing board.
