What’s in your snack cupboard?

Always interested to know what other people have. I always like to have stuff in because I don’t want to create a sense of shortage around these foods or put them on a pedestal. I find if I have stuff in, I’m less likely to go for it as I know it’s always there.

so how much, little do you have in? And what kind of things do you buy

Crisps: Twiglets for DH, Hula Hoops for me. We usually have some of those lentil or veggie crisps in too.
Chocolate: A few bars of dark chocolate in the fridge. DH likes a couple of squares after dinner.
Biscuits: Usually some Nairn’s Oatie biscuits in the cupboard. DH doesn’t eat these but I do occasionally.

We also keep a full fruit bowl and mini cheeses like Babybels. Dried apricots too.

Some plain crisps and dark chocolate in the fridge. No point at all in my having a snack cupboard as I'd eat my way through the contents daily, so I just have really plain stuff as described, more or less 'emergency snacks' to quell more severe cravings🙁

MiddleAgedDread · 28/07/2025 11:00

I tend to bulk buy snacks from Aldi then there's a choice of things for my daily lunch bag and I don't have to eat the same thing every day for a week. Not sure exactly what's in at the moment but a mix of:
mini bags of pretzels
hula hoops
lentil crisps
nak'd bars
mini bags of biscuits e.g. cookies, animal biscuits, jammie dodgers, party rings
sort sort of cereal bars

Coffeeishot · 28/07/2025 11:01

Crisps ready salted and salt and vinegar, halfbag of pretzel sticks. Couple of packets of biscuits and a bar of dark chocolate!

SweetFancyMoses · 28/07/2025 11:04

We have rice cakes in a cupboard. We’re not really snackers.

FurForksSake · 28/07/2025 11:08

A box of seabrooks crisps, giant multipack of golden wonder, some kettle chips (school holidays, I only buy crisps in the holidays ans they can’t have them every day, but I buy in bulk). Cadbury delights, caramel wafer bars, crackers, digestives. Loads of haribo, they’ve been there for ages but kids are off to Cinema this week. Small bags of popcorn, iced gems, some Easter chocolate, pretzels.

most stuff just stays there…. Crackers go down quick.

JBJ · 28/07/2025 11:14

Stuff 19yo DS likes but I don’t, otherwise I’d eat it 🤣 He will just have something every now and then and doesn’t have issues with eating too much. We have BBQ Hula Hoops, Monster Munch, Jaffa Cakes, Skittles and Mint Aeros. None of which appeal to me!

TheGriffle · 28/07/2025 11:16

AdoraBell · 28/07/2025 11:23

Nothing now that DDs are adults. It would be fateful as I graze when I’m bored or stressed.

I really miss the snack cupboard.

DiscoBob · 28/07/2025 11:27

Mine is pathetic at the mo. Some brandy snaps that I ate one of from two christmases ago.

Two nearly finished packs of nerds clusters. I nearly needed a dentist last week from binging on them! 😐

A big pack of prawn cocktail I opened yesterday and then promptly decided I've gone off that flavour. At least for now.

I really love carrot cake. But that gets kept in the fridge. And kinder milk slices are a new favourite. Also more fridge based.

The ultimate chocolate bar is white Bueno. I've been having those for breakfast lately. Gawd I wish you could get a spread in a jar of the gorgeous nutty filling in them.

Try the hazelnut creme from m and s....it tastes quite similar

BlackStrayCat · 28/07/2025 11:40

No snack cupboard.
Ice creams in freezer.

Ilovelurchers · 28/07/2025 11:46

Don't have a snack cupboard as such, as both daughter and I are trying to eat more healthily. She has various stuff in her room still left over from Easter (mostly the actual eggs, as she has eaten the chocolate that came with them).

We tend to just buy snacks as we "need" them - we might buy some mini Oreos for example if we are having a movie night in, or a bag of popcorn if we are going to the cinema. We'll buy some pot noodles (and non-brand equivalent) to take when we go camping in a week or so - we have already started planning which ones!

So we aren't anti-snacking as such, but it isn't a daily thing for us currently.

Omg that sounds boss. Thank you, I'll try it! 😍
I've got their pistachio creme in my fridge actually.
Gail's do a hazelnut spread (without chocolate) which is pretty damned lush. But it's a tenner a jar. And I ate it in a week 😐

Its1971Again · 28/07/2025 11:52

My snack shelf has salted peanuts, roasted pistachios, roasted wasabi peas, Montezuma's Absolute Black chocolate, Lindt 90% chocolate, Sainsbury's Ugandan dark chocolate, roasted fava beans and roasted cashews!

There are also a few plums, some strawberries and some raspberries in the fridge.

AllotmentHappy · 28/07/2025 12:00

Its nearly empty right now as waiting for pay day
but usually its crisps like wotsits & walkers. Couple of different packets of biscuits like rich teas (the best!) & bouborns. Then kitkats, cereal bars, mint areos.
we do have another draw full of sweets like haribos, squashies, marshmallows, capri suns, small packs of jaffa cakes, but its strictly for ds as hes a diabetic.

Coffeeishot · 28/07/2025 12:02

Are we counting fruit as a snack ?

Wigtopia · 28/07/2025 12:02

Rich tea biscuits
dark chocolate with hazel nuts
dog biscuits (hers are in their own jar in our treat cupboard!)

I can’t control myself around crisps and nuts so even though they are my preferred snack of choice I don’t buy them in unless for a specific day and will never have some lurking as I will just power through them!

CharSiu · 28/07/2025 12:14

We don’t have a snack cupboard and to DS chagrin we are according to him an ingredients household. Was raised with parents that ran a restaurant and they disagreed with snacking. I do like wasabi peas so have those in sometimes. We do have an ethnic split of the cupboards, left side of fridge is Chinese food and right side is English and other foods. DH does have chocolate in sometimes. Ido like crisps but they are so unhealthy I just almost never buy them.

DiscoBob · 29/07/2025 13:40

@Comedycook I couldn't really justify ordering from marks this month but I found a white choc hazelnut creme from Tesco! Suspiciously not very expensive, so I ordered two jars.

Better be bloody good! Don't suppose you've tried that one? X
