What to buy MIL?

MILs birthday coming up.

We aren’t close with the in-laws so I normally do the gift buying for them (which I’m happy to do.) I understand why DH struggles as they don’t have any hobbies or interests. They are both retired and spend their days watching TV.

We always offer to take them out for a meal but they simply prefer to be in their own home.

The problem is this year I’m feeling particularly stumped… I can’t think of a single gift!

At this point I’ll just get some M&S flowers and a card but hoped someone might have a more interesting idea?

Nothing too extravagant, for context she got me a vase from TKmaxx this year.

Thank you in advance!

Postal cream tea always popular in our family, shows you're thinking of them but there's nothing left over to gather dust!

ETA we use postal ones because of distance, if you're more local you could do a homemade version and drop it round maybe?

You can make a perpetual birthday calendar with family photos for her, it's both useful and also feels personal since you're not just buying something from the store.
