Cabin bed or mid sleeper, I'd like to find one which is cheap but nice!

It is for dd's 7th birthday, so not a toddler size one, but I don't think it needs to be full size because she is tiny for her age!

Her bedroom is tiny so she needs storage underneath.

Any recommendations?

i got dd1 the midlseeper i nsilver from next. its sturdy, easy to put together and room enough under neath for chest of drawers or to make a den like dd3 does to sleep underneath at the weekends.

its also neutral enough to last until teenage years.

is full sized so no need to buy another bed unless she suddenly turns into a giant.

was £149 i think.

in littlewoods catalogue they have a good range nd youd get money off your first order and you get comission ,,,,,

cornsilk · 25/05/2008 21:29

Someone linked to a beautiful M and S one in a recent thread.Was £399.

Wallace · 25/05/2008 21:30

Sounds good. I would prefer wood, though (sorry should have mentioned that in the first place )

Will have a look at littlewoods, too.

The M and S was wood.

Posey · 25/05/2008 21:35

Dd has this one from Argos, still going strong after 6 years use . She got it for her 5th bday and is approaching 11. Perfect for a small bedroom.

Posey · 25/05/2008 21:36

Should add, we just replaced the mattress recently as they're not the best quality, but still lasted a good 5 years.

Wallace · 25/05/2008 21:41

sorry cross posted.

The M&S one is really lovely, and the argos one is exactly the sort of thing too.

unfortunately my budget is probably only 100-150 (misdee - dspot on price-wise and it does look really nice, I wonder why I have only been thinking about wood...)

See the argos one is actually perfect because dd's room is L-shaped and most of the others have the drawers or cupboard on the right hand side which would be the side in the narrow "L" so they wouldn't be able to open properly (this is the problem we have with the drawers under her current divan). On the argos one you can swap the stuff underneath around.

We have this one
You can put the ladder at either end.

hotcrossbunny · 26/05/2008 00:05

MFI are usually good for this sort of thing, and pretty cheap too. Ours came from there a couple of years ago and is solid and good quality.

Wallace · 26/05/2008 20:04

The MFI ones are on SALE!

The tesco one is fantastic, exactly wht I am looking for, aprt from I don't need the desk... And the ladder needs to go on the left, but then the desk wouldn't pull out on the right!

Her room is rwally such an awkward shape!

Have a look on ebay. We got ours for 35 quid! perfect condition apart from a few stickers here and there No postage either as we picked it up.

FruitynNutty · 26/05/2008 20:06

i forgot to say it's a mid sleeper with slide. DS loves it! Uses underneath as his den

ivykaty44 · 26/05/2008 20:07

I have one you can have for free.... I want it to be gone.

In Midlands

CrackerOfNuts · 26/05/2008 20:07

Agree with fruitandnutty, check ebay.

I got Ds's a metal midsleepr from there for £30, in fab condition.

Wallace · 26/05/2008 20:10

blast ivykaty I'm in the highlands of Scotland! Which one do you have, out of interest?

Off to look at ebay...

It is a midsleeper that is wooden and it is set up on the right wall and has the ladder on the right with space space space under which was great.

Now dd 2 has dd1 bedroom (much bigger) as dd1 has gone and spread her wings - therefore dont need midsleeper any more and want normal bed in the box room.

I just looked after I posted and saw your as far away as can be from me!!

sorry

Wallace · 26/05/2008 20:19

I should check freecycle just in case.

I need one tht has drawers, otherwise I will have to buy a chest of drawers too!

MsPontipine · 27/05/2008 00:24

Do you have free to place for sale ads in your local paper? Ther's usually a couple of mid sleepers in ours - then you can just treat her to a nice mattress for it.

Wallace · 28/05/2008 20:34

Thanks, will have a look
