Teenage boys trouser options?

DS is 16 and has zero interest in clothes and mostly wears joggers and oversized t-shirts and a pair of black leather shoes he’s had for the last 2 years. Actually, he has two identical pairs and they’re wearing very well. He doesn’t wear trainers.

He's around 5’10” and waist size 30”.

I need to buy him some trousers for an upcoming overseas city break and wondered if cargo style trousers are ok or are they considered more old men style?

School broke up 2 weeks ago and he has no friends at all, so I can’t take my cue from what his mates might wear.

I also live rurally in Ireland so will have to order stuff online.

What's wrong with joggers? Mine is now 18 and that's all he's worn since finishing school.
My other one wore more fitted sports trousers, chinos if he needed to be smarter, and only now at 21 has started wearing jeans.

Thanks, that’s helpful. I think his current joggers look too casual and a bit scruffy compared to smart trousers so ideally I’m looking for something of a compromise between the two extremes really that he’ll be happy wearing. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pull and bear do great cargo trousers. On their own website or sometimes on Asos

Cargos are fine but slim fit cuffed bottom ones, not the 'ready to go hillwalking' Mountain Warehouse specials.

You need to convince him to get some new shoes though, I can imagine that black leather shoes and joggers is a look!

Search 'utility joggers' or 'smart joggers' and you'll get lots of options too.

My son likes Nike tech fleece joggers and they're actually smart enough in darker colours, but they are pricey and probably too warm for July.

Those cuffed cargo bottoms linked above are what I was going to suggest. DS lives in shorts and hates trousers - I can just about convince him to wear joggers and cargo pants (which is same as his mates, none of them seem to wear jeans anymore)
