Too casual

Not underdressed, nor terribly casual, just fairly informal where the guests are made welcome and where there have been no unreasonable demands made of them.

I don’t think asking people to dress nicely for a special occasion is unreasonable. 🙄

Too casual- unless the wedding is on the beach?
The model has flip flops and a cotton bag which gives a clue that its not formal wear!

Also, if the ceremony is in a church, you should cover your shoulders! Nice for a BBQ, not to any wedding I've been to. I've lived in 3 countries and see all manner of things worn too.

Nevertrustacop · 21/06/2025 14:36

It's great. It would be fine in a church too. There is no need to cover your shoulders entirely.

@Bumbleebeetree I really like that, where is it from?

Also, its nice for a summer wedding, with a colourful clutch and shoes.

Bumbleebeetree · 21/06/2025 14:50

It's from asos! If you search postcard print dress it should come up 😊

I'd say it was too casual, more like a garden party/bbq dress.

Agree. Definitely not wedding vibes.

But I and a number of posters think that is dessing nicely, especailly if it was accessorised more formally.

Could you post what you think is wedding appropriate attire?

Well a number of us don’t? I’m sure if you google wedding guest outfit you’ll get some better ideas 😘

I'm not sure that all of these on this link would meet with your approval either:

My problem is that I very rarely get invited to anything formal so my default would be to buy something I would wear again.

I think you would be horrified at what all the guests wore at the last wedding I went to - informal wedding in a register office followed by a tapas bar reception. In fact I think you would have been horrified at the entire informality of the whole thing.
