They all seemed to be full price on the toys r us website

Evesmama · 16/01/2005 21:48

we were in teesside park one a week ago and they were still 3 4 2 and £5 off some of them???

Happy land! Dd loves them. I don't like those little squat Fisher Price figures at all and dd seems totally uninterested in them. She's learnt loads from enacting little scenarious with the Happy land figures since she was about 14 months. She's 27 months now and has never tired of them.

DD also has the ELC pink palace. It's not Happy Land but is exactly the same size and the characters (king, queen, princess, jester and wizard) are all the same size and are interchangable with the Happy Land sets. Our princess regularly flies from the HP airport to her palace and back

Which bits of happyland would you start off with? Do they do what FP did and say release a school, and then the next year release a slightly improved one?
Which bits are the essentials in your opinions everyone?

And is happystreet the same as happyland?

We got my son the Happyland vets when he was about 16 months. He loves it and play with it everyday, 3 months later. Haven't got him anymore yet.

Hulababy · 16/01/2005 22:49

I think they must do lunavix. We have a house and a farm, which we got DD when she was around a year old. But this last catalogue had a different house and farm in.

First piece to start with? I would go for a house with the people.

pickledonion · 16/01/2005 22:51

we got dd the house first -then the vets then the post office and then a mat and cars

Hulababy · 16/01/2005 22:55

We have a nice village of HL now. Have the rail and road tracks too, which makes for a hige play area if all set out. It's great in the big open plan living area we have here on the laminate. Not sure when we move we will have a room big enough to have all the road/rail out together though!

We have:

house
farm
hospital
palace (ELC, not HL but interchangable)
airport - has cool motorbike and side car
intercity train set
rail/road pack
emergency vehicles
construction vehicles
extra farm animals
extra family

lunavix - Happy Street is what ELC did before they brought out Happy Land, so it's just an older version of the same thing. Kinda like Marathon/Snickers

lunavix · 17/01/2005 14:26

Ohhhh that makes more sense

The Happy Street stuff is more basic and 'duplo' looking (primary coloured & chunkier etc) than the newer replacement Happy Land.

ELC do bring out new sets and discontinue others regularly. They also bring out different coloured versions of the same item, i.e I've got the same bakery as my neighbour, but hers is beigey tones and mine is turquise. Hers is the newer version (6mths older than mine, ish).
