Waitrose ? I know they did have syrups and stuff a while ago as I bought rose syrup (actually 3 yrs ago come to think of it)
I remember having the mint syrup in France which was a bit eeeww

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 17:16

look it's here !

halogen · 18/05/2008 18:18

I can't get into that site, it keeps timing out.

It's also
here (and loads more nice cordials).

suedonim · 18/05/2008 18:20

I can get it by the bucket-load here but unless you live in Nigeria, it won't be of much use to you!

missmama · 18/05/2008 18:24

Is it a particular make or is it just the strawberry syrup stuff?

Because all the corner shops round here sell the different flavors.

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 18/05/2008 18:26

Why would you want to give your children that ?

halogen · 18/05/2008 18:30

Erm, because it's a really nice summer drink?

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 18/05/2008 18:38

Is it not very sugary ?

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 18:44

same as squash I'd say

MegBusset · 18/05/2008 18:44

My local Waitrose have the main French brand of sirop. I love the peach one

ChippyMinton · 18/05/2008 18:47

waitrose sell the teissiere sirops in the tin bottles.

Bree - yes, it is flavoured sugar syrup. In french supermarkest the shelves are groaning with the stuff in loads of flavours. I suppose it's their alternative to squash.

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 18:48

you could dilute them a lot if sugar content was a worry

Marina · 18/05/2008 18:51

Sugary, yes. No aspartame, sodium benzoate, colourings of any sort and all the interesting ingredients found in many UK squashes. Weakly diluted with meals as a treat - it is lovely. Makes fab lollies too
I liked framboise best orchide! We always stock up on that and citron vert when in France

guitar · 18/05/2008 18:53

whule we're here can anyone find champommy - a french children's drinkt hat looks like champagne but is sparkly non-alocoholic

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 18:54

ooh,I love that ! we used to buy Pschitt in France

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 18:55

I meant I'd love it, not th`at I've tasted champommy !

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 18:56

PSCHITT

Marina · 18/05/2008 18:57

Not to mention Banga, their lovely tropical soft drink!
We have Lorina for the children for high days and holidays guitar, I've never seem champommy. Sounds good...

suedonim · 18/05/2008 20:15

I've got a strawberry sirop atm and have a new bottle of raspberry & rose flavour in the cupboard. Some of the flavours are amazing - Sugar Cane is one that fascinates me. There are also some ghastly sounding chocolate combinations.

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 20:26

my french penpal had an aniseed one

Madamejaffa · 18/05/2008 20:39

If I can help those wanting French products I'd be very happy to help!

I live in France and can get all the syrups and yes, champommy with ease.

Not sure what postage would be like though, may work out an expencive glass of squash.

Orchide · 18/05/2008 21:12

The thing i love about Mumsnet as proven here, there will always be someone willing to spend their time looking for something for a stranger.......

Thanks all, especially those with links...now can you find it cheaper?! have bought before, admittedly in french supermarkets, syrup in metal style bottles rather than glass which was lurvely and cheap.
I challenge you to find me that online!!

Least helpful comment.....

have you a caribbean shop near you? or even try tesco in a carribean or asian area. they are always the best for juices and cordials.

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 21:18

those Rubicon juices...

Marina · 18/05/2008 23:26

Orchide, are you in London?
