yes. go to ikea. they do a soft rechargeable version
its called a spoka

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 17:15

so it's portable? it looks like it has a cord

OP posts:
mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 17/05/2008 17:17

it plugs in to charge and then you pull out the plug and its hands free. its quite soft and rubbery, so tactile but doesnt get hot at all and lasts pretty much all night on one charge

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 17:19

oh thank you
it isn't available online so I can't get one but that was a great suggestion

nope but i have asked some kindly ladies here on mn as there isnt a ikea near me and they have posted one onto me

laidbackinengland · 17/05/2008 17:26

cgi.ebay.co.uk/VESSEL-CANDELA-2-LAMP-SET-CLEARANCE-ITEM_W0QQitemZ350055415138QQihZ022QQcategoryZ2951 3QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 These are a little bit cheaper and you get 2...not quite as child orienteated though...

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 17:26

oh darned good idea
thanks mrsl
save me a few quid

OP posts:
SaintGeorge · 17/05/2008 17:27

some here, might be too young.

If you don't mind just a plain, push-on light rather than a 'child' light, I have one I can send you.

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 17:28

they're smart laidback
I'll see if anyone can get me an Ikea one first

OP posts:
SaintGeorge · 17/05/2008 17:29

This sort

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 17:29

thanks StG
I want the sort he can walk around with - atm we have landing light on but I want to start turning this OFF (so I can sleep better) and just give him his own nightlight he can use

OP posts:
SaintGeorge · 17/05/2008 17:30

You can walk around with those. They can be hung up or just left on a bedside table (switched on or otherwise) for the child to pick up.

We use the plain ones when we go camping.

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 17:30

hold on
the rechargeable ones only glow for 4 hours
so this isn't going to work is it?
I want them to be lit up during the night if he wakes up
and be able to carry them around
hmm

ah well maybe landing light will have to stay on anyway
we don't have a plug in the bathroom or landing or I would put the sort you recommend in there StG

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 17:31

oh I see it's battery operated! osorry didn't read properly

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 17:32

when it is switched on, how bright is it?

OP posts:
SaintGeorge · 17/05/2008 17:34

Not overly bright, but certainly sufficient as a night-light and to do loo-trips.

That's why we like them for camping. Bright enough to find something in the tent or to avoid tripping over ropes, but not so bright they disturb everyone else.

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 17:36

no that sounds possible
I want it fairly dim really
thanks StG that looks really good

OP posts:
TheBlonde · 17/05/2008 17:36

the candela ones got bad reviews on US sites

We have the ikea ones

SaintGeorge · 17/05/2008 17:38

The ones on that site are cheap but the postage is bad.

Drop me a line, I'll send you one of my spares.

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 18:21
