Can I return an unused but washed, poor quality bedsheet

Hi,

I’ve ordered a duvet set for my son on Amazon (fulfilled by private seller) and washed before putting it on the bed, and it’s come out bobbly and with some loose thread. Washed according to instructions.

I’ve contacted the seller and they’re offering a 15% refund, declining a full refund because it’s been washed.

I’m pushing for a full refund because it’s clearly a sub- par quality product and is unusable for intended purpose. I’m struggling to justify this under the consumer rights act because I can’t find anything specific to the product being washed.

Any help appreciated, whether it’s telling me I’m in the wrong or in the right!

Thanks :)

Bobbling and lose thread would just say a poor quality product to me. How much did you pay for it and how was it advertised? 15% seems generous to me, surprised they’ve offered anything.

Sounds like they are "not fit for purpose" under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

"One aspect of a product being of satisfactory quality is durability, in other words how long it lasts."

Consumer Rights Act 2015 - Which?

The Consumer Rights Act protects you in almost all purchases you make. Here we explain what it means when buying goods or services

You do realise you're contradicting yourself ?

Request an online chat with Amazon and explain. They are usually really good and refund without a fuss.

Not fit for purpose if it’s doing that after one wash. You’re entitled to a refund. I’d contact Amazon customer service as PP said.
