Rainbow Art Set - as seen on T.V.
Easy · 14/01/2005 17:04
Ds wanted one of these for Xmas but I didn't get him one, as I think they're probably really disappointing in RL.
But I'm trying a star chart for getting dressed when asked (now I have to be at work 3 mornings a week, I find his refusal to get dressed v.v. stressful). The deal is When his chart is full (it'll take 2 weeks if he complies every day), he gets a present, He wants this art set.
SO ... is it any good?
Can I get one for less than the £8.00 plus £3.45 postage I've seen on ebay?

my dd's have one. its pretty good. even tho they dont use it the way its meant to be used, it less messy. and they have lots of fun. think FIl got it from kleeneze type place.

DS2 got it for Christmas. It doesn't seem to work as well as on the TV ads but it is pretty much mess free and quick to set up/clear up. Ebay price seems good to me.

It is useless, unless you have a particularly arty slightly older kid (mine are 3 and 5). They use too much water and we get muddy brown not Rainbow!!
However if it is what he wants.....and means he'll get dressed....

Woolworths do a similar version for about a fiver I think. It's a chad valley one.

£20 in Meadowhall dh wanted to get the kids one for christmas but we were put off by the price.

I just remember, when I was little, seeing things on telly, that were rubbish when you got one, really disappointing. This just has that feel about it.
Lots of them on e-bay, so I know I can get one for about a tenner.
But can he earn it? obviously I've got to buy one so I can produce it when the chart is full.

e-bay price sounds good. I bought dd & ds one for christmas (between them) and I don't think its worth £20 at all, like someone said the rainbow ends up being a muddy brown colour.
Waste of £20, but if you can get it for £10 its not so bad

We bought dd one from Woolworths a couple of christmas' ago. It's called a Rainbow Art Studio and its by Roseart. Very similar to the one advertised on tv but much, much, cheaper. I think the one on tv is far too hyped up and far too expensive. Sorry I can't remember how much I payed for it but it was no-where up there with the tv one. Hope this helps. x

I would buy it if he earns it...and so you dont feel your wasting your money if you only give him a weeny bit of water then he wont be able to make it one colour and my dds both love getting it out and doing it on the bac of wallpaper(picked up for 50p from a charity shop).
Hopes hes good and enjoys it!
nightowl · 18/01/2005 12:13
its virtually mess free but i thought it was rubbish. ds begged for this and he played with it for about 10 mins. dont be fooled by the ads..the pictures really dont come out looking like that! unless you can get it cheap i wouldnt bother. (ours was over £20)
marialuisa · 18/01/2005 12:25
There's one on ebay for 99p at the moment. DD was given this version for Xmas but we passed it straighht on as a b'day present so don't know if it's any good!

My 2 dds do use theirs a lot, and pics are quite good BUT they are 7 & 9 so suspect a bit older than most of yours.
